Posted November 30, 2015 So I recently finished my first ever PC build, which I'm planning to use for light video editing and light gaming, but mostly work (documents, programming & CAD). There's a problem though. I don't trust the PSU powering the system. It reboots my machine after unplugging the VGA cable (verified it myself multiple times, it's not a BSOD of any sort, the PSU outright reboots the computer) and rebooted my machine not too long ago after unplugging a pair of cheap PC speakers from the mains. The PSU was given to me by a friend who has several old unused machines at his house - it came from an old Pentium D Pavillion desktop. I've opened it and dusted it out, particularly the fan which was in a horrible state.Additionally, The PSU keeps ramping up the fan to unbearable volumes at random times, and is at the moment the only exhaust fan for the case (The exhaust fan I have fitted can't reach the mobo header<_<). CPUCore 2 Duo E6320Motherboard ASUS P5VD2-MX SERAM 2x 1GB HynixStorage (RAID 1) 250GB WD Blue 250GB Seagate Barracuda (JBOD) 160GB Hitachi Case Cooler Master K380 Mid TowerPSU FSP Group 250-60GEN 250W I'm planning to upgrade the system bit by bit, the next upgrade being the graphics card to a NVIDIA Geforce 210 1GB (I know it's not powerful but the onboard mobo graphics is absolute turd), followed by a USB 3.0/Gigabit Ethernet expansion card. Here are the PSUs I'm considering: EVGA 500B 80+ Bronze (£38.49)http://www.amazon.co.uk/EVGA-500B-BRONZE-Power-Supply/dp/B00DZ6R9GE/ Seasonic S12-II 520W 80+ Bronze (£46.62)http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seasonic-S12-II-Bronze-Certified-Supply/dp/B00390P1NO/ Antec VP600P 600W (£44.85)http://www.amazon.co.uk/Antec-VP600P-Efficiency-Thermal-Control/dp/B00K64HZI0/ Online reviews have put me off getting any Corsair PSU, but if they offer anything affordable that will last me at least 3 years I'll consider. Posted November 30, 2015 Seasonic easily. You might wanna check out the Corsair CS series if it's cheaper than the Seasonic. Check out my guide on how to scan cover art here! Posted November 30, 2015 Look at XFX as well. They frequently have sales and they are all Seasonic based units. I would also consider Corsair's CX line. Purely on a bang for the buck basis. Your collection of parts is not the high end so spending a ton on a great psu doesn't make a lot of sense.
