EVGA GS 850W arrived today, install it and the fans spin for a split second and turn off. What could it possibly be? First fully modular PSU also. Quote me also

As said above, pretty sure that PSU wont even turn the fan on until you are at about 50% load, so dont expect it to be on most of the time.

When in doubt, re-format.

Mine does that. It's normal. The PSU runs without the fan 99% of the time.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Guess I should of started my PC doesn't turn on. CPU fan turns on for a short second and stops.

Try just reseating everything(taking all the plugs out and putting them back in). This catches a LOT of small errors that even experts occasionally run into.

A society's accepted views of the world surrounding said society is both the making and undoing of society itself.
“While one person hesitates because he feels inferior, the other is busy making mistakes and becoming superior.” - Henry C. Link

Ah, well in that case, make sure that everything is plugged in correctly, (both the 24 pin mobo and the 8 pin cpu cables from the PSU)

Are you able to get into your BIOS or is that not working either? Alsy try running with just a single stick of ram, this sometimes helps in troubleshooting things.

When in doubt, re-format.

I don't have time until Sunday so keep suggestions coming

Weird... Only thing I can recommend is making sure everything has been seated properly. Check the 24-pin connection to your PSU. It's a dumb design they used for it and I had trouble getting mine to start the first time.

Yeah the 24 pin mobo that goes into PSU is weird.

Yeah the 24 pin mobo that goes into PSU is weird.

All of the Supernova power supplies I've bought came with a plug to connect to the motherboard cable in order to test the PSU.  It shorts two pins that turn it on.

Granted, none of them are GS models.  Does the GS come with this plug?  If so, use it.
