Repair Nexus 7 or upgrade to new Nexus 7

Should I upgrade my Nexus 7 to the new one?

The reason I ask, is the following:

I have had my N7 since February, yesterday my dog decided to jump on my bed and in doing so smashed the screen, rendering the thing useless as the touch no longer responds. It will cost about £110 + P&P to have it repaired by a store, or I could do it for £60 if I buy the screen and install it my self (I could probably install it, I have repaired a few friends phones).

I can either do these options, or for £192 I can get the new version, so for £132 or £82 I can get the new one. I use my N7 ALLOT as a game companion and bring it nearly everywhere, so what ever option it will get used a heck of allot.

SO do you think it's worth the upgrade to the new version? Either way I will be out of pocket.

I also say new nexus seven. But what kind of dog do you have? Is it really big enough to smash a nexus seven on a soft surface O.o

Standard schnauzer, he gets hyped up and jumps when he sees horses going down the road, when he jumped his claw must have hit it. What's amazing is that it didn't have a scratch before, and I never put a screen protector on it.

I guess it's decided, I will be upgrading in the near future. It seems like a good time too, especially since the new one has only just come out so it shouldn't be outdated for a while.

get the new one, i havent heard a single bad thing about it.....seems to be the perfect 7 inch tablet. Google spared no expense......apart from not giving a full metal body.....the standard case is still perfectly acceptable and i guess they did that to keep the cost down whilst keeping quality+ performance toa maximum....

If they made a full metal back, you bet I'd get it! I think I will get the new one, they changed allot and for the better.

lol 22 votes to none.....pretty apparent result. Also you can probably get around £80 for your old nexus......just put it on ebay for parts or not working and explain that everything is fully functional other than the touchscreen. Used nexus 7 go for around £110 on ebay with all the stuff included. You would most likely get £80 for yours provided you took moderate care of it and only the screen is damaged...

The new N7's speakers don't sound that good, but they're the best I've seen for about $200
