Steam Security

Go to solution Solved by LogicalDrm,

Ooops. I forgot to clarify in the post. Risk regarding the credit card information specifically.

Slim to none. General crackers can't get access to that info. Payments are extra secure with any site. Steam doesn't save any credit card infos by default. You can link those to account by clicking Remember this card box when paying. I've got my paypal linked like that. Actually no site shows your full credit card number on receipt. They show 4 pr 6 last numbers. Risks are as big as any other internet shopping site. If their database gets cracked, then its problem. But just loosing your account to scammer.

So I just realized that there's a steam sale currently, and I noticed a few games I want to buy.

The problem is I don't have any card or whatever for payment yet, and I plan to use my mother's credit card, and just pay her with cash.

Since it's not my card, I want to know if there are any risks regarding the credit card info., and the possibility of those risks happening.

Any input would be much appreciated.

If someone wants to login to your steam you'll receive an email with a code you have to put in. (Since it's a login from a new computer)

They can't get that code (unless they hack your email too) and cant actually login to your steam account.

if you think that they wont let use it because its not yours than that's incorrect

Well, if they cant get onto your steam account, they cant get the credit card info.

And I think you can delete the credit from your account afterwards. (I'm not sure so don't quote me on it)
