Help me get started

i have a 660ti and an i5
 

i use ubuntu 12.04 LTS and could someone just go through the steps of how to set this up in ubuntu. i have fahcontrol and it says in terminal connection refused please help

Also, note, that in Ubuntu you cannot fold on the GPU, except maybe using wine or something, and doesn't work well. To take advantage of the GPU folding and get some major points, I would recommend folding on Windows.

I think i read somewhere that the new core 17 had Linux GPU support. Or is that wrong?

Yes, it does - but if you use the solution from [H]ard, you get the version 6, so no GPU folding - if you want to run the newest Linux version 7, on your own. :) Plus, it is very beta, so not sure what numbers you will get on it.
