How many PS3 controllers can I connect to my PC?

I want to play rocket league with my cousins on thanksgiving. I need 4 controllers but I can't find evidence that you can have 4 connected. I'm doing this via USB so not Bluetooth.

Does Rocket League support the ps3 controller or are you gonna emulate it as an Xbox 360 via MotionJoy or similar?

 

I know the game Battleblock Theater supports local multiplayer with 4 Xbox 360 controllers, which should be possible with PS3 controller emulated as XBox 360 controllers too I guess..

i think via usb you should be just fine.

with bluetooth it can be a tad dodgy depending on how crappy your bluetooth module is.
