90-100% RAM USAGE! HELP!

Go to solution Solved by b3rt1l,

It seems it was caused by Gigabytes APPCenter with easytune and such. Found some things about it here and uninstalled it and deleted the folder. Now back down in ram usage. If it comes back i will mention it.

So sometimes, just randomly my ram usage goes up to like 90-100%. I have no idea why. I have tried the regedit fix... If there is any way to fix this. I have 8gb of 1866mhz kingston ram overclocked to 2666mhz stable at 1,8V. If there is more ways in the regedit it woul dbe nice to know. I can't play any games...

Thanks in advance :D

1.8V on DRAM?!

Slow death for the Integrated Memory Controller (IMC) much?

DDR3 1866 MHz overclocked to DDR3 2666 MHz; there is a small chance your problem is caused by your overclock.

(pushing the DRAM MOSFET's beyond it's linear operating region, and may be causing it to be stuck in saturation -- at an Engineering standpoint)

For the sake of troubleshooting, put your overclock BACK down to stock, and see if the problem remains. If it doesn't, then your overclock is doing the harm. Otherwise, the problem lies elsewhere...but at least we've eliminated your DRAM being the cause.

Lower it back down to stock and see if the issue persists. IF so you may have a malware or something causing your Ram usage to skyrocket, or a program is running heavily. Remember 8 GB of ram is not all that much now adays, As you can see that spotify can use quite a bit itself. What is that CAM program though i havent seen that one before, is it a webcam?

I have Spotify ad Skype on my own PC's, and I do believe they have 64-bit versions.

I know for a fact, Steam is still 32-bit, and for the time being, there is no rush to have a 64-bit variant available.

@b3rt1l

Have you determined what is the cause of the high RAM usage?

The "Process" tab might not show everything that is running on the system. I find that to be the case sometimes with Windows 8/8.1 and 10.

NOTE: In the screenshots, I am on Windows 10.

Instead, go to the "Users" tab and expand that out.

Arrange everything high to low memory usage. While you are there, make sure other user profiles (if you share a PC) is not hogging up the memory.

You can also go into the "Details" tab and check your memory usage there as well.

Again, sort from high to low memory usage.
