Help understanding CPU MC and RAM voltages

No, you should be fine.

 

CPU overclocking is affected by RAM overclocking. If clocks are higher on RAM, generally the CPU is able to achieve less of an overclock. And sometimes, the memory controllers can't handle memory overclocks at all.

So on pcpartpicker when it says that the memory voltage exceeds the Intel recommended and the memory may underclock to lower the voltage, what should I do? I heard that I can OC the CPU's memory controller and then just bring the RAM to its stock; is this true? Also, can someone please explain all of this in more detail?

Generally it's not something to worry about as long as it's a small difference. I'm running 1.65v RAM fine with my 4670k.

The voltage memory spec Intel provides is largely there to cover their butt. You can buy memory outside of that spec and be totally fine. Just don't use memory that runs at 1.9V - if any actually exist or if you decide you want to set it to that for whatever reason.

Here's hoping the next generations of CPUs won't suffer from this! I know my 4790k has been finicky about it.
