The Acer is 250 bucks here and the Asus is on sale for 180..but how different is 1080p from 900p in games? I play on xb1 a lot cause my buddies don't have gaming pcs and I think that's at 900p right?

I'd say it depends on pixel density and what GPU you have.

with a 980 I'd go 1080p

but 900P does not/should not scale well to 1080p (in fact I'll check: it's really not great)

Aftermarket 980Ti >= Fury X >= Reference 980Ti > Fury > 980 > 390X > 390 >= 970 380X > 380 >= 960 > 950 >= 370 > 750Ti = 360

It depends on the game. Most games won't use 1080p but some will. What region do you live in?

900p on a 1080p panel looks worse than 900p on a 900p panel.

If its NOT a native resolution for the panel, then it wont be as clean looking as a native resolution of 900p.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

I wouldn't go lower than 1080p in a monitor.

Agreed, 1080p is standard in video games. If you can afford not to, I wouldn't go below that unless your system is ancient

Since xbox usually hangs around 900p in most games that would be optimal if you are mainly gonna use it for the xbox,

1080p is a standard for desktop monitors, let alone video games

I am going to be using this monitor, no matter which one i get, primarily for movie watching/CAD work with light Android and Windows gaming on a ZOTAC EN760 [i5 4500U with GTX 860m] which will be bolted to the back of the monitor via VESA mounts. I figure that the lower graphical ability of the 900p monitor may save some precious processing power of the 860m card and allow me to tweak my games to a slightly higher fidelity. I personally am starting to see less and less a difference between my XB1 games and my PC games [running on a 1080p 60hz monitor]

Im just trying to figure out if the 70 or so dollar saved on the monitor is going to be actually worth it. Also i dont have a ton of room on my desk so the extra 2 diagonal inches saved with a smaller monitor might make a difference?

I was on mobile, that being said I am sure you can find a 1080p monitor on newegg for maybe half that. I mean I see the 20ish inch monitors go for around 120-150 all the time.

Yes of course. The problem is that having a touchscreen monitor is a requirement for this build. Otherwise yeah I would've just gone to best buy or whatever And got something. Lol
