Might be a spoiler or two here so stop here if you want to.

So I've been playing witcher 3 for maybe 10-15 hours and I've had quite a few crashes.

The crashes more often than not happens during dialogue or cut scenes.

In the past they were fewer and far between but ever since I've got to Skellige they have happened more often. First time I talked to Yennefer when I arrived at Skellige the game crashed all the time. The crashes are right to desktop, no error message. Nothing.

I have googled a bit and they all say "Lower your graphic settings" and "Underclock your gpu".

So I lowered the settings, underclocked my gpu and all that.

Any tips? What so ever. The crashes ruins the great immersion the game otherwise has.

Have you checked your temps?

Yes, I used the program "NVidia inspector" and max temps were at 59 or 69 (Celsius). I'm at work right now so can't check but it was absolutely max 69 and that's ok right?

I had not had crashes and I've put 200h into this game. Have you got all the updates? If that doesn't help, reinstall :D

Yes! But I do have the beta drivers for my 980, should I downgrade to last stable?

How often does this happen? Also does it happen during other games?

I have version 1.11 in game. I might try this as a last solution.

Hard to say, it's mostly at the same place and it gets past the crash if I try enough times.

id give it go could be a unstable driver causing issues, revert back and see if that fixes it

I will try this, thanks!

love the game. Odd thing, first time i ran it, i can latch it to steam and run from there, overlays and all. Couple of days ago, I cant run witcher 3 using the steam shortcut, needing me to use GOG galaxy exclusively to launch. And thats where the crashes started happening. And like you said, specifically right before conversations / cut scenes.

Its still bearable for now, and no im not about to reduce my graphics settings from highest when im running a 980ti on a single 1920x1200 panel. Maybe when im gaming on those in surround, but not on single.

OT a little bit. I dont mine playing the game on 3 x 1920x1200 portrait monitors, but having the in game menu hidden behing the bezels is really annoying. Otherwise, it looks gorgeous, but a single 980ti cant seem to run witcher 3 at almost 4k at highest settings. :/

I'm running it through GoG as well! Maybe I should download the stand alone version and try it that way?

you can always just run the exe. mine is located in D:\GalaxyClient\Games\The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt\bin\x64, yours would be different depending on how you install. It doesnt launch galaxy client when you do that.

Didnt think of doing this. You may have some success?

My CPU is overclocked indeed, but... I kinda need them extra fps...

just try it with stock. I had the same dilemma with my GPU OC, but its either 2-3 fps more or crashes every 20-30min
