looking for 24" in 1080p need help deciding

dave01978

Ok my 2nd display is dying its hard to turn on at times, it just a 1280 x 1024 so im thinking of replacing it, biggest I can go is 24" and that might be a bit big for the space, but i think it will just work.

My main screen I currently use for gaming is this

http://www.asus.com/Commercial-Monitors/VE228H/specifications/

Asus 21.5" 60hz, 5ms response time, to be honest it works for me, This is the best monitor i've used so its done good for me.

Looking between the following

https://www.asus.com/us/Monitors/VG248QE/specifications/

Asus 24" 144hz 1ms resopnse TN

Or

http://www.dell.com/ed/business/p/dell-u2414h/pd

Dell 24" 1080 60hz 8ms response IPS,  The usb Hub will be a nice feature, but not really needed.

Gaming dont really play a lot, some shooters, GTA, Rocket League and some other little stuff here and there

Not a great system but its decent

i5 4670K, 16GB Ram R9-270 2gb  so the frame rates are not crazy, not to say that i wont get a better card in the future,

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Dave

I would go for the U2414H if you're willing to pay a little extra; you don't really need 144hz. I have a u2414h and it's REALLY nice. The colors are great, the bezels are tiny, and the stand is pretty high quality too.

Pro Tip: don't use flash when taking pictures of your build; use a longer exposure instead. Prop up your camera with something (preferably a tripod) if necessary.

if you use retarded/autistic/etc to mean stupid please gtfo

I appriciate the feedback, as I was kindof thinking the 144hz was a bit overkill, but never using one, and reading the review on tft central seems like its a realy nice monitor and calibration is nice bonus.  Thanks for the feedback so far guys

I appreciate the feedback on the IPS as that is what i had a feeling would be the best, now time to settle down for sure,  thanks for the suggestions now im looking more at other ips panels

Definitely go for a IPS monitor. Better color reproduction and viewing angles. Not sure how much you're getting the Dell for, but this new Acer monitor is only $135 (if in the US).

http://www.amazon.com/Acer-R240HY-bidx-23-8-Inch-Widescreen/dp/B0148NNKTC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1447002802&sr=8-1&keywords=ips+monitor

Might have to look into that one, the dell one is $229, and if i decide to try jet.com  with there 20% off coupon would be $184

the acer would be 144 after tax which would be a nice $40 cheaper, not sure if the landscape feature + usb ports is worth the 40 bucks

Thats nice to hear you have that display and its nice, did it come with the calibration as well?  did that appear to make a difference?
