Can anyone explain why the "brainfuck" programming language exists

So i was looking up a few languages to see what i would learn next and we i found this and im confused, it hurts my eyes just to view it. It does live up to its name. Does it actually have any use.

For the same reason Shakespeare and Malbolge (check it out!) exist - mostly because creating them was an entertaining challenge and some people had too much free time on their hands. :P

Not anymore, but what do you think they wrote assembly language in? Not this specific command set, but a very similar one.

It's for fun; it's designed to amuse people and present a challenge. There's a whole subset of languages called "esoteric" programming languages which serve this purpose, including lolcode, chef (programs look like recipies), whitespace, and more.

Pro Tip: don't use flash when taking pictures of your build; use a longer exposure instead. Prop up your camera with something (preferably a tripod) if necessary.

Because the guy who made it wanted to create the smallest compiler. All the commands in brainfuck had equivalents in Amiga OS, the target OS of the compiler. Also because why not??

If it hurts your eyes to view it, you've clearly never seen Malbolge.
