Is extending on a pre-built worth it.

So with my birthday and Christmas coming up I am looking to finally get a Pc. Like Scrapward Wars I was looking to get a cheap base like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FAST-DESKTOP-GAMING-PC-COMPUTER-INTEL-CORE-i3-2-93GHz-HDMI-PORT-4GB-DDR3-320GB-/301725353500?hash=item46403b861c:g:MyYAAOSw3ydV5daB to use and then put a GPU in when it comes around. Is this a sensiable option or should I just save and buy a whole new Pc?

I can't really see an issue other than the PSU cause those things suck.

That one looks terrible. A second hand, proper, gaming PC would be a better. Or build one yourself with second hand parts.

There is a reason for that, and the reason you shouldn't touch the PC you linked with a sixty foot pole. A second hand older Q6600 CPU and LGA775 board would be a better bet IMO.

For gaming machine... You would get better value from Q6600 or something like that. There are some bonus like that it already has DDR3 RAM.

Made bit confusing there. Q6600 uses DDR2. The Core i-series would use DDR3. But since Q6600 is quad-core, it packs quite performance for the age. I had one since few years back so its still pretty valid choice.

Sure. But I only know really basic stuff. I built 2008 on LGA775 and upgraded it 2013 to 1150 Core i7. Between that I didn't really pay attention to stuff.
