It DOES have a bit sharper image. I used my friend's glossy acers and as long as there wasnt any light on them, the image looked crisper.

that absolutely does not have to do with it being matte or glossy

that depends on the quality of the panel, colour calibration, panel technology, backlight, and resolution

It seems like you have a lot of research to do about monitors and display panel technology

here are some videos for you to get started, and then maybe you will be able to find yourself the right monitor which is better than a retina display

Well, crisper than my Syncmaster 204B's at the time.

ok...?

so you're comparing a high end acer monitor to a shitty 1600x1200 TN panel with an 800:1 contrast ratio

of course it will be crisper than your syncmaster

High end. The acers were like 150 bucks. And those monitors were some of the best TNs I have used. But I think his were IPS. So yah... OP go for something not TN :)

It is glossy but surprisingly the glare is very minimal. You won't even notice it that much when using under normal room light. Plus the screen is really bright and the backlight is evenly distributed.

Ive seen glossy LCD's compared to Matte LCD's and IMO the glossy ones have bettter colors.

If you compare glossy IPS and matte TN. I personally think it looks a little better on a glossy panel, but ONLY if you are in a dark room...

Thats the thing, the room my computer Is In looks like a Vampire's lair :P

One of the best (CHEAP) monitors you can go for is this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA4JH2CA3490

It is matte (glossy ones are available) but it has a resolution of 1440p and I have heard that the colors on its Samsung PLS panel are VERY good. Keep in mind that sometimes you can get a bad one, such as one with backlight bleed. But they are on sale right now for 200 bucks! Oh, and did I mention that you can squeeze over 100hz out of most of them?

that's because its a really good LCD panel, not because its glossy

have you compared identical models with the exact same specs? Or did you just go to a store and look at a glossy monitor compared to a random matte monitor beside it and say "yes the glossy one looks better" without making sure that they had the same specs?

Because just fyi, matte or gloss does not affect colours

I don't know where you got that from, but its not true

the colours depend on the calibration of the panel, what backlight its using, and what panel technology it has (IPS, PLS, VA, TN, OLED, etc...)

As long as It ships to Norway Im ok. And my max Is 400$. My system Is In my Sig (970). As long as I dont dip below 30FPS Im ok. I prefer to play games maxed. Size around 24inches and 1080p (minimum).

is that "minimum" for resolution or resolution and size?

Resolution :) Around 24inches for monitor.

well your 970 will definitely handle 1440p for almost any game and still get over 60fps

it should never drop below 30fps even when on ultra

if you like the sharpness of the retina displays you will want 1440p on your monitor

so now that we know what you want, make a topic in the monitors section of the forum, and ask for:

-24"

-1440p

-IPS

-LED

-ships to norway

-$400 or less

-well known brand like asus, acer, dell, etc

and you will get a ton of recommendations

then all youve got to do is look through all of them and find one that has a nice design and a good price (there are plenty of options for less than $300) :)

no "retina" is just an apple marketing term for higher resolution

1440p is basically what you get on 15" macbook pros
