This is an absolute beast of a card...and it comes with a BACKPLATE.

If I had the money(which I could have had...if I found out earlier, my high school would reward those who get >9.5 out of 10 at the big exam) I'd be all over it.

Still, I got an MSI 380 4g and it's also fast and sexy.

yeah, THEY'LL fit nicely in my first system with the 5960x, intel 750 1.2GB

 

the other two will fit nicely into my other system with a 5960x, intel 750 1.2GB

 

Not to mention the DDR4 G Skill 32GB of ram in each.

 

I've also 6 4k monitors, hopefully next gen will support multi 4k monitor gaming.

If they drop price on the 380 to 950 levels and leave a 380X that's going to be 30% better than a 960 at the same price range nobody would touch a 960.

I've never heard of a cut down chip having less bandwidth than a full unlocked chip. I'm not very knowledgeable in chip tech, but history shows the 380x will be 256 bit, and there's nothing wrong with that. What will mostly likely happen is it will only come in 4GB variants.

Well yeah nothing strange. I can see HBM2 on top tier cards, main reason expenses and probably no need for lower tier cards for now.

even if they only leave the 4GB model and made it a 256 bit bus, it'd probably still have the crap beaten out of it by the 380 tbh. I wonder if there's a bus width they could implement between 128 and 256, then again, probably not. 256Bit would probably be a bit overkill seeing as it's just above entry level. The 970 has a 256 Bit bus and that continues up to the 980, where the 980Ti and the TitanX have 384 Bit Buses. If they could implement a step inbetween then the 960 might become a bit more relevant. But right now that 4GB model is about as pointless as the 4GB 750Ti's that are floating around. Like seriously, who needs 4GB of memory on a 750Ti?

There goes me thinking about a nice HMB2 card for $350.... dayum.  I was really hoping for a value HMB card in the future... I knew it was too good to be true.

 

I just sent in my GTX 770 and I'm getting back a 970 for my troubles. I still want a better 970 though than the stock Zotac is offering as it's a tiny card. I want bigger and cooler, not shorter and hotter. So who knows. I could sell it, pay a tiny more and get the better card. Or keep that and get another 8 gigs ram.. hmmm...

Guess the yield on HBM isn't as abundant as expected. I won't be surprised if old cards get a refresh. I certainly won't be buying a new gpu unless HBM though.
