new budget system NOT WORKING PLEASE HELP

so I made a pc and put it all together here is the full spec list

 

intel pentium g3258

8gb crucial balistix sport (single dimm)

seagate barracuda 1tb hdd 7200 rpm

evga gtx 750 ti sc 2gb gddr5

msi h81m-e34 lga 1150 motherboard

corsair cx430 430 watt power supply

rosewill line-m micro atx case

 

 

when I booted the system up, all the fans would start spinning and then it would just shut off. from then on it would be stuck in a boot loop until I turned off the power supply. I tried many things to find out what's wrong. From this I can say it is not the case, GPU, Power supply, or hard drive. Ram, motherboard or the processor itself I think might be the problem. However, I am more of a noob with this kind of stuff, so I'm still not very sure about anything.  I put this on Tom's hardware as well, and they said that my motherboard needed a bios update before I could use the processor (pc part picker said that some h81 chipset boards may need bios update) However, when I read the manual and read the list of supported processors for the motherboard it said it was supported. I am absolutley frustrated that I can't solve this issue, so if anyone can help me out that'd be great

make sure your GPU is seated correctly and the power supply cables are connected properly to it.

If they are try swapping the GPU to another slot if you can and see if that works.

If it is the bois that need sot be updated, you are going to need a donor cpu to use while flashing the bios (unless you have one of them fancy board that can do it without a cpu)

 

Also make sure all the connection are secure. I had a similar issue when I built my system, but it was because the 24 pin was offset, and not seated properly. Give them a good push, to make sure its seated properly (dont hit it with a hammer or anything xD)

Have you run it w/o the GPU installed? The pentiums have on board graphics i think.

 

Have you checked the RAM placement? There should be a guide in the manual.

 

Or I agree PHInfinite, it could be the PSU

Sounds like PSU issue, or a seating issue.

Well maybe he diddnt install the drivers correctly?

OFF TOPIC: I suggest every poll from now on to have "**CK EA" option instead of "Other"

Not sure about MSI, but Asus will typically specify which version of the BIOS supports a specific processor. Example, my Asus Z87 Pro supported my Intel 4970K, but had I received a board with 1 BIOS version earlier, I would have had to update in order to use my CPU. Might be worth looking into on their support page for your motherboard.

Sounds like the psu to me, also might want to try reseating your gpu as someone mentioned earlier.

See if you can borrow a cpu (maybe from a friend or take it to a computer store and ask) and see if it boots with that. If that doesn't work then I'm sure it's the psu.

i know the problem , it's because the motherboard has earlier bios that are not compatible with the g3258 .

Can't tell if serious or trolling.

 

OP, easiest way to troubleshoot this is going to be a friend that has a slightly older Haswell CPU. Try his CPU in your board and see it it boots, if it does, update the firmware and try your CPU again.

Then it's likely the bios, try putting the ram in that other system top rule that out, if that's not the problem then is the bios

When I built my first system it wouldn't boot. I spent hours trouble shooting, and was about to give up for the day. Then I realized that I didn't have the connectors plugged into the CD drive. After that I also forgot to plug in the CPU power. It might be something basic like that. Just make sure everything is seated and plugged in correctly.

That wouldn't shut the machine off spontaneously, that would throw out error messages or just show a black screen.
