SSD+HDD

never get an SSHD unless its for a laptop with only one drive port and you cant afford a 500/1000GB SSD

but tbh 1TB SSDs are really cheap now, like $300, so theres really no excuse to buy a SSHD

Why is using SSHD for games and applications bad? It didn´t go faster? I´m just asking.

It'll store frequently used data onto the small flash memory space that it has, so if you're using it for mass storage only, it won't really provide much benefit at all over a regular HDD.

Plus, in your case, you're going to have an SSD as the C: drive anyways, so you don't need to get an SSHD.

because the SSD works like caching, it only speeds up slightly, and it more expensive, it's not worth it for games either go SSD or HDD

1) you dont get to choose what goes on the SSD or HDD, maybe you want something to load fast but you cant get it to load fast because the drive chooses to have it on the HDD part

2) the "SSD" is just larger hard drive cache, usually only 32 or 64MB which is barely anything useful

3) the drive is constantly moving data between the SSD cache and the HDD, increasing latency when you access something that is being moved

4) the SSD cache degrades faster because its constantly being written and erased

5) SSHDs never have speeds as fast as a normal SSD does

So you want your OS to boot up super fast but your programs to take forever ? Put as much on SSD as you can, by that the stuff you use daily and not just the OS.

Ya cause 300 dollars is just pocket change. Ya people not being able to afford an SSD cause 300 dollars is expensive to a lot of people that seems like a valid excuse to me.

You either got a really good job and were frugal when you were young with your money and did things right or you have a decent job and live at your parents paying virtually no rent or rent free and have money to just throw around cause you dont pay a mortgage, taxes, children, etc etc.

when I bought my first SSD it was $300 for a 240GB model

if you have a job $300 isnt a lot compared to when 1TB SSDs cost over $1000

Here is the point 300 dollars is a lot of money I do not how you can sit there and say that it is not.  For the average person that is 3 days work in a 5 day work week.

Now if you were to say that they were cheaper then they used to be that would be more correct, your making it sound like everyone just has 300 dollars to toss around like it is play money and grows on trees.

Lets see here what other computer parts would 300 dollars get us could we get a MOBO and a CPU for 300 we sure could could we get a 3TB HDD for 300 we sure could could we get a PSU and a decent GFX card for 300 we sure could so in comparison people may have better things to spend 300 dollars on then 1 thing.

stop making it sound like 300 dollars is nothing pocket change that everyone can afford to just piss around

1) dont write INSIDE somebody elses quote

makes it a paint to read

2) if you only make $100 a day then your job is crap and you need to get an education and better job

3) You should take a look and see how many thousands of people are buying 1TB SSDs now

doesn't seem like $300 is a big issue for many people especially for a ssd that's more than 30 times faster than a hard drive a third of the price

Well since your picking on people now and trying to start an argument here we go.

it's not paint it's pain

I never said that I make 100 dollars a day I said some people do and the majority of the worlds population does when you figure in taxes etc

If you cant figure that out and be a little more sympathetic towards that then maybe you should educate yourself better

yes because thousands of people is a good comparison to billions

so your now telling people who make 100 dollars a day are poor and need a better job lol your pretty pathetic dude.

people have things to pay for like food, bills , car , gas , insurance , mortgage , school , medical , the list goes on.  100 dollars a day is a pretty respectable job and in most cases are jobs people went to school for because in today's society employers have not caught up with the worlds inflated prices

Once you move out of mommy and daddy's house start paying your own bills and pay for your own gas and car you will understand how the world works until then son keep your mouth shut until you own 100% own, your own car and are 100+ thousand dollars in debt for a house ,then start telling me 300 dollas is cheap and not a lot of money.

bloody kids have no idea these days they live such sheltered lives and are not taught the proper skills to socialize with society and the importance of money.

wow picking on a spelling mistake? I said dont write inside a quote because it mixes what you says with what you are trying to quote

also calling me pathetic because I said $300 is not a lot of money is just showing how immature you are

can you not make your point without attacking someone else?

also there aren't billions of people who are building performance gaming PCs and laptops

only a few millions

so if you compare thousands to millions, thats actually quite a bit of the population

if you can afford a $1000-$2000 laptop a $300 storage upgrade is definitely feasible

just because you cant afford something doesn't mean you need to insult others who can

especially since you're breaking the forum rules by doing so

How is picking on a spelling mistake any different then what you did to me ?

I never said you were pathetic because you said 300 dollars was not a lot of money you need to get your facts straight and actually read peoples posts and understand them before replying.

Well if you bothered to actually wait 3 seconds before making a response to my post you would have noticed I made the edit and actually corrected it myself before you even finished writing your post.

So who looks like the idiot now and the one who is picking on people. ( it is not what you say kid it is how you say it to people you will learn this when you grow up.

we are not talking about people who build performance computers we are talking about people as in anyone who could be involved in building their own computer which just so happens to be billions,

where in this thread does it say that someone owns a $1000-$2000 dollar computer and they are thinking about buying an SSD for an upgrade ?

who said anything about me not being able to afford it ?  I am just telling you , you need to be more sympathetic to other people specifically the majority of the population of the world and this forum.

In the real world with people who have real responsibilities $300 dollars is a lot of money , on the other hand 17 year olds who live with their parents in the basement room  who have a job and no real world responsibility that comes out of that paycheck 300 means nothing to them

Just for your own information I make 100K a year as a network admin for a fortune 500 company in Canada, which I do have more then one job title and I do more then just admin stuff. And frankly I think 300 dollars for an SSD is a lot of money when you compare it to what other parts you could buy for that 300 dollars.

Also since you seem to think I was actually attacking you I wasn't until you decided to make it personal , I was just merely trying to tell you that most of the worlds population thinks 300 dollars is a lot of money because most of the owrlds population only makes around 100 dollars a day.

do you make 100 dollars a day ? you telling me your job pays you  500+ dollars a week at 17 years old for 40 hour work week ?  If so how much of that money is already spoken for weekly

do you pay a mortgage or rent ?

do you pay for a car payment ?

do you pay for your own food ?

do you pay for your own insurance ?

do you pay for your own medical ?

do you pay for your own kids ?

do you pay for your own life insurance ?

do you pay for your own utilities ?

I could go on

but do I really need to ?  The point here is you should be more polite to people and think before you say things that are kinda ignorant to the majority of the people here because 300 dollars is a lot of money.

Ironic, coming from the guy who goes around insulting people for their personal opinion.

I don't waste my time with people like that. Luckily, the forum has an ignore feature. Have a nice day.
