One reason why AMD GPU's will not die out any time soon

But its gonna get to a point were manufacturers will see the benefits of going to nvidia soon, more powerful gpu with a smaller power/heat output. I mean think of it this way, even a 750ti right now is gonna be more powerful then console graphics, and produce less heat. They just need to built it into a console and once 1 company does it, it will catch on really fast

This is totally misleading, before Kepler, AMD had several generations of cards, that had way better power consumption than NVIDIA  (remember those hd 5870 days???) And people didn´t like them, because, they lacked that POWA and drivers... now, AMD is beating Nvidia in almost every segment (except for the 980 ti/Titan x) with a better price tag and great drivers (and yes, they are great, ed of discussion) and people are bitching around, that AMDs cards are not power efficient... Make up your mind, people.

P.S.: That power efficiency game is going to change very soon because of the new manufacturing process and new GPU designs GCN 2.0 and Pascal, that is rumored to have finally some compute performance and approximately 30-40% more in-game performance.

Freesync won't die out given it is supported by Intel and AMD now, and even if AMD dies out--Radeon won't.  AMD has the chance to go up in smoke, but if the best case scenario happens - then Radeon will be picked up by Intel.  So, if they fail you win, and if they don't fail you still win.  Everyone wins in this land!

What everyone fails to realize is that AMD's downfall won't be due to price:performance ratios or performance/watt. It will be due to its low market share, and well, AMD's cpu division isn't doing to good either atm.

And the console argument is kind of laughable, do you really think AMD is making tons of money off it? The only reason they have apus in the consoles is because AMD is doing it for less than nvidia deems worth it. The consoles won't be enough to keep AMD afloat.

I hope they expand their market share, and that zen is successful enough to keep the company going.

Pretty much this. Tho, I'm gonna guess Samsung will make a play at AMD.

I don't believe Samsung will be allowed to by the FTC.  It would have to be an American company like Microsoft, Intel, nVidia, IBM, etc.  Intel snatching up the GPU part and nVidia the CPU would be the most likely and then Intel renegotiating x86, etc.

As long as AMD is still developing GPU, High wattage PSU market will keep growing.

LOL. Funny. But that's bullshit.

Even without high power consumption GPUs, the PSU market is still innovating and growing.

980ti has to be overclocked just to catch up with furyX in SW:BF. This trend will continue into DX12.

So no, AMD GPU's are not going anywhere, anytime soon. What we will likely see is desktop Pascal launching in mid-late 2016, and Fiji being on par with Pascal in DX12 and even DX11. People can laugh at that prediction all they want, but its almost a forgone conclusion with the evidence we have on hand.

Why is this even being discussed, AMD will NEVER die out someone else will buy them if it's a red flag for them. And besides who the hell would pay $1000 (guesstimation) for a 980 Ti successor in the future if Nvidia were to monopolize the market.
