cheapest eyefinity setup

Go to solution Solved by simson0606,

why not a r9 290 and 3 22 inch 1080p screens (you could pick the screens up for around $100 each and the 290 can second hand be found for like $180 (had 2 of em for €165 each))

what would be the cheapest eyefinity setup? something you would for example recommend to a rich 13 year old or something(i don't have much money to spend), and please no recommendations to save up for more. i don't actually care if it has to be second hand, i've had great experience with that.

thanks everyone.

So like a r9 380x and some 21 inch screens from best buy that kinnda thing?

i need just the displays

what? you give no guidelines or boundaries seriously.

as long as they are 1080p and not as small as a mouse, i don't really care no  :P. i just need 'em to be cheap...

So here's my suggestion.  You could go second hand, but you're likely to not have the best experience if they are not all the same model.

I would wait for Black Friday.... I purchased all three of my monitors that I have in my surround setup on Black Friday (two different years).

In total, the three 24" monitors were $300, which is a pretty solid deal.

If your budget is less than that, you could probably find 3 smaller monitors new for around $240 during Black Friday, but for less than that, I don't see you

able to purchase new.

I wouldnt exactly reccomend it, but I used to have five 1280x1024 19in cragslist monitors in eyefinity. Looked and felt pretty damn badass, not to mention the multitasking that can be done. I would need to find my image of it. I spent 100 bucks alone on displayport to DVI active adapters though xD

R9 380 4G and 3 768p monitors

which 768p monitors then?

The cheapest DIGITAL displays you can get your hands on (So they have to have a DVI-D, DVI-I, HDMI or Displayport output), and an active DVI-D to DisplayPort (Assuming one of the 3 monitor didn't have a Displayport out)

i don't care if they are analog... i'm using vga right now...

16:9 is nice. Whatever you get, you generally need at least one of them displayport if you use more than 2 panels. And please, vga is so 20 years ago, use dvi...

All but one of the displays have to be digital.

Most AMD cards these days have a HDMI, DVI-I, DVI-D and Displayport

At least one (You can have more if you want) of the 3 displays have to be off the Displayport and the remaining can be off any of the remaining ports.

DVI-D is digital only

DVI-I is Analogue or Digital

HDMI is digital only.

(DVI-A is analogue but your card WILL NOT HAVE ONE)

I said get digital displays so you don't have to have a VGA to DVI-D or DVI-A adapter and they all match!

well, maybe a little bit of gaming but if you look in my signature, when i start doing eyefinity and stuff i'm going to upgrade...

while its ok with gaming its nothing great even I struggle to power alot on my setup on 3 screens, and not only that the fisheye effect on 3 screens is...quite a sight to behold and its not terribly nice.
