Is it safe to download a file overnight with my PC? (involves having it on over 8 hours, probably more later because of use.)

it shouldn't be any different to leaving it on for 8 hours during the day

No problem leaving it on overnight, expect for adding a little bit to the power bill. But that's nothing to worry about.

I grew up with dial-up, anything that can be rated for mbps is fine for me :). I do quite enjoy my 60/20 connection, the speeds is certainly appreciated.

Me too, I remember a time when nobody even had a PC at home, I really dont miss dialup, just for the flipping noise, .. also AOL CDs

200mbps master race ;)

I don't miss it either... having dial-up was horrible, but it was awesome at the time.

7K PC and not money for good internet? Your life must suck. Anyway, as long as you don't have overheating going on and all powersavings/auto-updates turned off its fine. Overheating shouldn't happen since its basicly idle whole time. But both powersavings and auto-update will be problematic. Since, you know, sleep/hibernation mode -> paused dl. And auto-update -> reboot -> stopped dl.
