Gaming RAM?

Can someone tell me the best RAM speed for gaming??? I just got the generic 1600 DDR3 microcenter branded RAM. Im going to be upgrading my RAM seeing as the specs for Star wars battlefront recommends 16gb and currently all my slots are filled but only with 4gb each. So I'd be upgrading to 8gb in two slots for 16gb then getting another 16gb for a total of 32GB. Finally what would the best brand to get??? Is all Ram pretty much the same as in a 1600 DDR3 stick from corsair is basically the same as one from kingston?

speed doenst matter for gaming. there is no "gaming" ram, just ram. Good brands are: Gskill, Corsair, HyperX

I'm running Battlefront at Ultra 1600p with low anti-aliasing and I'm getting 70-80fps. Dips down to 68fps when I'm in AT-AT Walker game mode.

 

I only have 8gb of one of the cheapest DDR3 rams out there lol. Check my sig.

im not sure there really is the best speed for gaming its just matching the high enough speed with the low enough cas latency in your budget range

There isn't really any "best" RAM for gaming. Just find something 1600+ MHz and you'll be good to go. Unless you are using integrated graphics, in which case you want to get the fastest speed your motherboard supports. The only major difference between brands is the heatsink and overclocking capability. Although, I do prefer Corsair for memory, but that's just because of looks lol

Just get something 1600 Mhz and I'd recommend 16gigs if you use a lot of tabs.

Anything advertised as "gaming" is pure marketing. That's it. I use 1333MHz RAM and have no issues with games. 1600MHz is generally the sweet spot.

If DDR3 then 1600 with at least CAS 9.  However, the latency is measured in MS.  So, there isn't a huge difference.

With computers, a few milliseconds can make for a huge difference.

Any RAM of DDR3/4 nowadays is the way to go. You won't notice the speed difference in RAM directly going to DDR2 however, it's just using what's the most up to date.

Why get 32gigs, will you actually use it? Battlefront runs all ultra 85-120fps depending on certain scenes.

Sounds like a waste of money to me.

Isn't it better for the MB to have all the slots filled rather then just 2? I thought I read it's best to fill your dims if your able to.

That really doesn't matter. It'll run basically the same in dual channel or quad channel.

No, it doesn't make a positive difference on the motherboard.
