I'm not a big fan of it, be honest with you.

If it is not broken, let's fix till it is.

Why is everyone so worked up about the cooler? I mean it's not like you can't find a non-reference cooler at retail.

I was a bit out of the loop for the past few months, should I wait until Computex for the release (or release date) before buying my build? Or is buying 970 or 980ti still a good option now?

Also, does anyone have any idea about how hackintosh support will be, how long does it usually take?

honestly I think you should build your pc now with a cheaper graphics card and then buy the "gtx 1080" if it has good reviews or get the gtx 980ti if it ends up being better. The reason I say wait on the graphics card is because the price will probably drop on the 980ti. Also i am not absolutely sure on how long it will take for the hackintosh support will take but as soon as the developement team can get their hands on a 1080 they will start making custom firmware or whatever for it.

Don't get any serious card right now. If new generation of GPUs is to bring any performance improvements, and AMD and Nvidia are really aiming to release VR capable cards at 329$ price tag, those cards are going to perform between 980 and 980 Ti, or even same as 980 Ti. Well, they have to, because releasing new gen GPUs with the same price/performance ratio as previous one is completely pointless, it would be stepping in place instead of advancing.

And first of all, your monitor has FreeSync and ability to go 75 Hz with it, so get AMD card.

But AMD cards tend to have bad support with hackintosh and that's bigger priority for me than gaming. One option would be to run hackintosh part from the integrated gpu, but that would probably bring more problems that it would solve. I haven't bought my display for it's freesync options and I'm willing to sacrifice it for working hackintosh build. Might seem stupid to some, but I'll spend at least 10x time on hackintosh compared to windows (=gaming).

My oh my how things have changed. lol  When I was getting into linux, ATI cards were the ONLY things that had decent drivers available in Linux/Unix.

Probably not by much for gaming, NVIDIA's focus for Pascal was "deep learning" and workstation use

I think that's with their big GPU die with HBM memory.

This pascal they are announcing today looks like it's 100% made for gaming.

So ... I've heard someone saying that 1050 Ti will be more powerful than 980.

Who would care to bust this one?

People can say anything. If there's no actual facts to support it then it might as well be a made-up wish.

Well I've heard that the 1080 will probably be about the same as the 980Ti.  I've also heard that it might be twice as powerful.  People say a lot of things ;)

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

Sometimes I even think it's both sides trying to mess market expectations. Nvidia is raising users expectations on AMD Polaris so in the end will disappoint (Polaris same performance as 980ti for 299$ anyone??)  ahaha

These rumors don't come from AMD and NVIDIA, it's excited people making predictions and pretending it's fact, and trolls who are entertained by fabricating "leaks" and watching people take them seriously.

Anyone ever go back and browse through old WCCF articles? It's pretty entertaining. "Maxwell confirmed to be on 20nm", "AMD Hawaii chip to be 20nm and have 4096 cores", not to mention AMD's supposed new "Phenom IV" 5.0GHz 12-core 75W chips (lol). Most people don't remember them when they don't come true, and only remember the articles that did come true, and develop this funny idea about the website being reliable. But when you go back and read, you realize how many there are... and for each and every fake one, you have to consider that someone somewhere just completely made this shit up. Which is why if anyone tells me they have some "information" about future products and tell me it's been covered in a WCCF or videocardz article, I'll say "so what?"
