Do any of you guys participate in betting/gambling, whether it be sports games or casinos? '

I've been considering getting into it and want to know any tips and tricks veterans have if you're willing to share.

As a kid who can't really afford college even while working, I don't see how I could go homeless due to gambling unless I bet thousands at a time like an idiot.

Take it from me (Every Gambling game is Rigged) Even if they pay you out they have made more then they paid out that day... They purposely let people win. They used rigged shufflers (odd amounts of cards in a deck also. Think of it like this if 5 people are sitting at a black jack table and they throw the number 21 in the deck 1000 times more then normal any time the dealer gets 21 he cleans 5 people. Online gambling is the easiest for the hosts to rig they own the code its a simple code change.

I guess a little safer form of "gambling" would be stock trading. Gambling usually boils down to luck, while stock trading requires some actual research on the companies. The stock prices aren't completely predictable however (so there is some luck involved), but you can be more certain if a company is going to do well or worse, and invest into stocks accordingly.

I wouldn't call stock trading "safe", though. But gambling is even riskier, and is a lot more likely to result in loss of money (whether be it bad luck or getting rigged).

I can understand the appeal of gambling as a pass time activity, but for getting some income, better to look elsewhere.

Never trust my advice. Only take any and all advice from me with a grain of salt. Just a heads up.

I've been considering stock trading as well, but I heard that you need $10,000's of dollars if you want to make a decent profit?

You can start from small, and move from there. That way, you can also learn minimizing losses and such. However, for getting profit large enough to sustain living, a large enough capita for investing is necessary. It doesn't need to be $10,000's of dollars, but larger sums for investment equate to larger profit that can be done. Though this also means larger losses that can happen out of sheer bad luck, but not investing everything into only one company's stocks can lessen the losses significantly, should one company's stocks fall in price.

I unfortunately don't know much about stock trading. There are a few members here (from what I have seen) who do day trading (stock trading where the stocks are bought and sold within the same trading day) and have more knowledge on the subject.

Never trust my advice. Only take any and all advice from me with a grain of salt. Just a heads up.

Gambling out of necessity is never a good idea. Stocks aren't solution to financial problems either, no matter what these numbf* may tell you.

Both are meant for money you haven't earmarked.

When the going gets weirdthe weird turn pro.

If you gamble long enough on games that require luck to win, you'll lose in the long run. Casinos make ridiculous amounts of money from morons that go in there thinking they're going to go on a heater. Truthfully speaking, no limit texas hold'em poker (the most popular poker variant) is your best option because there's always people out there that'll be worse than you. The stakes don't matter, there's always fish for the sharks to prey on.

I'll give you one piece of advice; play online because the rake won't kill your bankroll. Plus, you'll see more hands per hour versus playing live (at a casino). This will give you more experience. Take your time, play within your bankroll, read books, and visit the twoplustwo poker forums for coaching if necessary. Most importantly, keep your emotions in check.

Nope, I don't bet/gamble, I could understand if you'd like to try it out for fun but if your intention is making money just stop, you'll lose more than you'll earn.

If you are already doing it I suggest you to stop, and if you are thinking about starting... well don't, there are lots and lots of people who tried it with your same mindset and guess what happened? The became addicts, they didn't know when to stop even thought they though they did, and ended up ruining their's and their family's lives.
