960 is the obvious choice here as it is a lot more powerful than a 750ti. The 300w psu should be able to handle it. But if you spend some extra, a 380 has even better performance.

Ah, if you do get a better PSU. Get the 380. The 960 is a little disappointing.

A good 500w psu will be nice. I recommend units from SeaSonic or SuperFlower.

That is a very low power GPU. The 380 uses quite abit more. If you do not get a PSU that will handle this component, you might end up destroying one or more of your components.

If you don't want to get a new PSU then your only real option is one of the 750 Ti's that don't need external power. If you get a new PSU from a good brand in the 500w range you can power either the 960 or the 380. Both will do what you're asking with the 960 consuming less power. If you plan on getting the 380 do not get a CX430 as it does not have enough PCIe connectors for the card.

Еrm 380 and 960 have the same connectors and draw almost exactly the same amount of power.

Really? because every 380 I've seen is either x2 6pin or a 6pin+8pin whereas there are several single 6pin or 8pin 960's. Even my SSC 960's only have a single 8pin.

*Correction, just saw that the strix 380 has a single 8pin. My point still stands though.

Most 960s I've seen come with 2x6-pin and I've not seen a 380 with a 6+8-pin - even the Sapphire Nitro and MSI cards - the ones geared towards OCing - have 6+6-pin

Have you considered getting a GTX 950? it's really close in performance to the GTX 960.

**MID POST EDIT**

Well shit

dcc67551e7.gif

After typing up all of the 960's I went to list the 380's only to find that TPU listed the Strix 380's as a 6+6 card when I know it isn't because I'm looking at a picture of one right now. So I went through the 380's and found pictures to confirm the pin layout on all of the 380's. I didn't do the same for the 960's due to the sheer volume of 960's out there and the fact that a large majority of the 6 pin versions are reference cards which are ALL 6pin.

------------------------------

Right so because I misremembered various power connectors on cards I decided to go find out the which cards have what connector types, I used Techpowerups GPU database for this. I tired to remove ones that just featured different I/O layouts but some might have slipped through.

@Ostwind - nice list - I actually didn't know there was a 8+8 960 - talk about OC potential :D

But yeah - the power draw on these cards vary from OEM to OEM and from factory OC to factor OC and voltages but for the most part they are within arm's reach of each other

A psu of 300w and i5 650 able to support: (1) r7 250x (Y/N) (2)gtx 750ti (Y/N) (3) r7 360 (y/n) 4) r7 260x (Y/N)?

Will it bottleneck the games or lagging. Will be running on med/high no aa. Achievable to 60fps or lesser than that?

Games are: mgsvpp,bf3,4,hardline. Mw3,aw,ghost and bo2. Crysis3 and ac unity.
