So Im still waiting for some parts for my new gaming pc, but since i have some time on hand now I couldnt help but assemble what I could already.

 

Parts I have already:

 Enthoo evolv ITX white special edition

Asrock Fatal1ty z170 gaming mobo

Corsair rmi 850w psu

Trition AIO CPU cooler

2x sp120 white led fans (those come in the top, where you arent supposed to put fans...)

r9 295x2

1tb hdd for mass storage

some adapter

 

Ordered:

I7 6700k

2x8gb ddr4 ram 2600mhz

256gb sm951 NVME

2 20mm yate loons fans (for r9 295x2 push pull)

some adapters

UPDATE:

 

So after waiting quite a while and seeing my shipping date go beyond the horizon (apperently intel doesnt want anyone to have an I5, shipping dates are maybe end of November now if you dont want to hand over 100 euro extra for a horded chip)  I had to downgrade my CPU to a i5 6600k. Good thing though it was only 240ish and the 256gb sm 951 nvme ssd became available for 158 euro.

 

The final assembly didnt take as much time as finding an old gpu with dual link dvi so I could install windows with my korean monitor.

The NVME m.2 ssd didnt give me any problems installing windows on it and delivered some saucy 2.16 MB/s speeds right from the start.

A bit of a bummer were the random bluescreens Ive got while setting up the pc. Apperently it was the flaky 1.0 bios, since updating to 1.2 fixed everything.

 

I couldnt quite believe the temps since, despite the fireplace being stuffeed with wood, idle was only 25-30°C and load temps in the 30s with aida 64 and the fans being at 900 rpm.

 

Overclocking was a breeze, changed a few thing and put in 1.375v, ran 4.3/4.5/4.7 with the cpu only test.

4.7 resulted in an error while testing everything at once, but 4,6 was stable with no trhottling after 2 hours testing.

 

Seems like I could have even gotten away with a 650w psu though, max output was 640w with around 710w drawn from the wall.

Maybe I can get up to 800w from the wall when I OC the gpu though :D.

 

Down below are some pics of my temporary setup (Im moving atm and are staying at my parents in between).

Im gonna run some Benchmarks later, but so far Metro Last light redux is pinned at 60 fps in 1440p maxed (no advanced physx obviously).

I installed the harddrive bracket after all, it does make the pc look a fair bit cleaner (but you cant quite see how large the e-peen is now q.q)

Probably gonna add a white led stip somewhere, the top LED fans dont quite give off enough light.

EDIT:

 

I picked up an sleeved  atx cable extension and finally managed the mess in the back of the pc while I was at it,

it does balance manage to balance out the black and red a bit.

I had to rebuild the pc pretty much completely in between btw, my mobo randomly died on me and took my cpu and m.2 drive to the grave with it,

good think there are RMAs though, didnt need to pay a cent for the replacements.

Its a sapphire one (doesnt really matter though, does it?).

Im gonna controll 2 fans in push and regulate the vrm fan to quiet it down (only moddiy has the fitting cable......those ridiculous shipping costs though).

Update: Finished the build for the time being, still waiting for a pwm cable extension so I can controll the vrm fan and had to change a few components.

Added some test info.

 

That looks really good! How much time have you spent on that already?

Like an hour actually fitting components together and figuring out how Im gonna fit 360mm rad space and 4 fans in there.

It was quite nice that the sp fans fit in the top easily if you mostly ignore the mounting points, but I totally forgot to factor in how freaking huge the

Triton Waterblock is. The Fill cap is about 2-3mm too tall for the gpu radiator fan, so since I didnt want to cut up the case I

 had to use 20mm thin fans.

 

 

So I wasthinking about an mITX Skylake build. What made you go with that case and that motherboard?

I really liked the enthoo evolv design, but since I didnt want a case that big anymore (should go on desk) I ruled the ATX version out and the window design in the matx version is a bit meh. Since there was an ITX version that is basicly a mid tower -extra pcie spaces and -a 12 3.5 and 5.25 mount that Ill never need i went with that (I only need 1-2 harddrive mounts and a 2,5 slot pcie slot + space for large gpus and radiators/coolers). Also making a tiny space heater is kinda fun.

 

The mobo choice was kinda limited since I needed a ITX z170 mobo with wifi, ultra m.2, usb 3.1 type c (wanted that) and red and/or black colours and 3 fan headers.

The fatality mobo was quite solid so far with a sensible connector layout, an easy to navigate bios and solid wlan.

I really liked the enthoo evolv design, but since I didnt want a case that big anymore (should go on desk) I ruled the ATX version out and the window design in the matx version is a bit meh. Since there was an ITX version that is basicly a mid tower -extra pcie spaces and -a 12 3.5 and 5.25 mount that Ill never need i went with that (I only need 1-2 harddrive mounts and a 2,5 slot pcie slot + space for large gpus and radiators/coolers). Also making a tiny space heater is kinda fun.

 

The mobo choice was kinda limited since I needed a ITX z170 mobo with wifi, ultra m.2, usb 3.1 type c (wanted that) and red and/or black colours and 3 fan headers.

The fatality mobo was quite solid so far with a sensible connector layout, an easy to navigate bios and solid wlan.

 

Those are fair enough reasons. I want to do an ITX Skylake build as my next one and was leaning more towards the Corsair 250D case, because I shouldn't be needing that many HDD/SSD/disk drive mounting points. It's not that I don't trust Asrock to make motherboards, I just generally lean towards Asus/Gigabyte/MSI for motherboards. Asrock have the features I would like but now the colour scheme. I like fairly plain looking motherboards.

  2. Dat GPU sag...the PCI-E slot cannot take that kind of load in the shear direction. The plastic might rip out if you jostle it enough or over time.

Mhh, not sure what you mean, the gpu doesnt sag (screwed in with a backplate and solid aluminium shroud) and the cables are all routed to the nearest cable holes.

Replaced my 295x2 with a used 980 ti+ek  block for 300$ profit (miners :D).

I guess its time to overclock, the 980 ti valley score is ~15% behind the 295x2 on stock, maybe I can close the gap?

Im using 250w less than the undervolted 295x2 though, so I can just let my fans run on low all the time now.
