R9 390 Crashing my system?

This has been bathling me for ages.

 

A few weeks ago I installed my R9 390, a few hours later my system randomly freezes and then restarts, I contact the shop I brought it from and they told me to install the beta drivers (The guys I was on the phone with said beta drivers magically fixed all his driver problems). I do that, and my PC doesn't randomly restart... Until the next day. Then I wash it off as a problem with Windows 10, I hadn't done a clean install of Windows 10, I upgraded. So 3 days ago I did a clean install of Windows 10 with my brand new R9 390... Guess what, more random restarts, after I update my mobos BIOS and more troubleshooting I decide to contact Microsoft support thinking it might be windows related and they were very friendly in helping me. My system mostly crashes when I have browsers open and so they thought it couldn't be my GPU either, until I decided to try put in my old GPU I still have, I've been running on my old GPU for a while now and it hasn't crash/randomly restarted yet. Wat do?

 

Any suggestions/information will be greatly appreciated.

do you OC it ?

That is a possibility - or overvolting - or using cheapo components.

It's not overclocked and I replaced my shotty Chinese PSU before I got my new GPU.

Beta 15.9 came out a day or two ago.

I've tried 15.7.1, 15.8, 15.9.

a Beta driver should have more bugs than Stable / Release Driver, maybe AMD havent made a Stable Win10 Driver

Other 390 users aren't reporting this issue.

a Beta driver should have more bugs than Stable / Release Driver, maybe AMD havent made a Stable Win10 Driver

Neither have Nvidia really - I've yet to see one from either side that works 100% of the time.

The GPU is Gigabyte G1 Gaming R9 390 and if you meant PSU, Thermaltake SmarT Series 750W.

Gigabyte 390 :D - you see - this is why I say AVOID GIGABYTE - their 390s are broken - Bios is crap and fan controller - it's the card vendor - return and get an MSI 390.

Thermaltake Smart Series are the WORST possible thing to use with any card - I've used a Smart 630 - abysmal and nearly bricked my system.

Reinstall Driver ?, is Stable Driver for Win10 isnt Avaliable ?

As I've said, I've tried 15.7.1, 15.8, 15.9. Removing previous drivers between installs.

Still, It was this or wait weeeeeks. I can't simply go in and return it like that, they will probably give me a new Gigabyte 390 after I RMA.

in AMDs case, most of their "beta" drivers are "final"/stable versions. they are just too lazy/cheap to go through the certification process of "WHQL".... so they cannot call it a stable driver without that certification...

 

been using beta drivers for years, never had any issues with them.

 

@Muz

try use a difference PCIe port.

download GPU-Z, check the BIOS on your GPU

if the BIOS on the GPU itself is not the same as the one found here: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/2664/radeon-r9-390.html

then you should RMA your card.

 

"downgrade" to win7/8/8.1 and see if the 390 is stable with 15.9.1 BETA drivers in that OS. It may just be something as small as that.
