Still, It was this or wait weeeeeks. I can't simply go in and return it like that, they will probably give me a new Gigabyte 390 after I RMA.

Then you're stuck - nearly 50% of Gigabyte 390 owners are reporting this issue on the Newegg and Amazon review page - at least when I last checked - the other 50% have a broken fan controller forcing fans @ 100% - you made a VERY poor decision with Gigabyte :/

in AMDs case, most of their "beta" drivers are "final"/stable versions. they are just too lazy/cheap to go through the certification process of "WHQL".... so they cannot call it a stable driver without that certification...

been using beta drivers for years, never had any issues with them.

@Muz

try use a difference PCIe port.

download GPU-Z, check the BIOS on your GPU

if the BIOS on the GPU itself is not the same as the one found here: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpudb/2664/radeon-r9-390.html

then you should RMA your card.

"downgrade" to win7/8/8.1 and see if the 390 is stable with 15.9.1 BETA drivers in that OS. It may just be something as small as that.

My only second PCIe slot is Gen 2 x4.

how long since you purchased the card?

If it is within 30 days, most places offer a "money back" deal.

Just tell them you have read on the internet that many others have the same issues with this specific brand of 390s and that you want your money back or a different brand of card.

If there is a price difference between the gigabyte and MSI/Sapphire, just say you will pay that difference, as it shouldnt be a whole lot. Doing so may motivate the retailers a bit, as they will not technically lose any money.

whatever you do, DO NOT get a ASUS card. Those are just as bad as Gigabyte.

The GPU is Gigabyte G1 Gaming R9 390 and if you meant PSU, Thermaltake SmarT Series 750W.

I know it's new, but it could still be faulty. The symptoms you describe make the power supply very suspect. I'd be contacting Thermaltake instead of Gigabyte.

Bad drivers crash, they don't generally cause random system reboots. Though I suppose anything is possible.

Asus are worse as they run hotter and crash as well xD

That's also a huge bottleneck.

Thermaltake have more faulty/bad units than good ones - why did you even buy it?

I put in me old GPU and it only randomly restarted once while playing a game. But the the shutdown issue is gone, could RAM be the problem?

I get this error in event viewer.

The ACP Kernel Service Driver service failed to start due to the following error:

A device attached to the system is not functioning.

your old GPU should not be restarting all of a sudden it if was fine before - I guess it's likely that legendary thermalfake quality

It would freeze and then restart, after I updated my BIOS it now just completely restarts without freezing. Could it be the mobo then?

Ah... You should've gone with a Toughpower unit. Don't look down on ThermalTake, not all of their PSUs are shit.
