Gaming CPU needed

What better FX- 6300 or i5-4690(Haswell) or i5-6500(skylake)

I am not planing to OC the CPU. Thats why i am not choosing one of the haswell (i5-....k).

 

This is the Wishlist of item i what I am still thinking of what Cpu and motherboard to use.

If it's not significantly more expensive than the Haswell SKU, the i5 6500 would be the best bet. If it is, just get the i5 4690. The FX chip isn't really amazing unless you're under a really tight budget.

The fx-6300 is really in a different weight class than the other two (lower weight class). From personal experience: with the fx-6300 you may have similar performance in newer, optimized games, which highly depend on graphics, Crysis 3 for instance, runs pretty good on my 8120, which is pretty much the same CPU with 2 more cores (the way i overclocked it). BUT if you want to run games like World of Warcraft, you are going to have a bad time in CPU bound tasks, i have 9-11fps in raids. League of Legends is of course playable, but i sometimes have dips into 40-50s, which breaks my PC masterrace heart. I would definitly recommend going with the Intel CPUs if your budget allows it.

i5-6500>i5-4690>FX-6300

 

if you can pick up the skylake part at a decent price (some places have them insanely overpriced...) thats your best pick.

depending on the scenario, the i5-4690 will be a very close second.

 

as for the fx... even in rendering the two extra cores dont make up for its slower ipc...

The i5-4690 price is R 3489 the i5-6500 is R 3223 at Rebeltech the shop were i will get my new pc

Jeez, I knew FX CPU's didn't do too well in WoW, but I didn't think they were that bad. What GPU do you have? I'm assuming it's better than something like a 6450 if you're playing Crysis 3.

i5 6500 would be the best option, seeing as its cheaper than the i5 4690 anyway.

You don't need to get the top tier locked i5's you know, a 4460 will shit on a 6300 nearly as well as a 4690 will. You could get one of the mid ranged ones with a bit more clockspeed while still being cheaper than the 4690(depending on local pricing). The same goes for the 6xxx series i5's. You should only get the FX chip if it's on a super steep sale(like 40% or more off it's normal price) because the thing is a tinker toy compared to intel chips.

I would actually look at the i5-6600. It's 10% more expensive but has a 9% higher clockspeed; the i5-6600 runs at 3.6 GHz on all cores when under a quadcore load, whereas the i5-6500 runs at 3.3 GHz on the same load. Don't get the i5-6600k though since the K-series parts don't come with heatsinks.

i have a 7870, but the situation in WoW i am talking about are 25 man raid bossfights, so worst case scenario. During Raid i have everything turned down as low as it gets, but still running at 1080. Tough i could turn most of the graphic details on to mid-high and the only thing that changes is my max framerate from around 95ish to 30-40ish outside of the raid. During the most intensive Phase of some boss fights 10fps-ish is all i get, no matter what.

Something about your configuration isn't quite right then. I used to have an FX 6300 paired with an HD 7850 and I used to run WoW at High-ultra settings with 30 FPS minimum all the time. 60fps (vsync) world, 30-40fps raids.
