PSP e1004 Battery Life

I was wondering if anyone knew how much I should expect from the battery in the e1004.

 

Unplugged my PSP at about 8AM this morning and now it's past 2PM. Been listening to music ever since or playing quickish sessions of Persona 3 (30-45 minute stretches) and it's only gone down one bar

 

According to the user manual it should be anywhere from 3 to 5 hours, on a new battery, which this isn't

I bought it used yesterday. As far as I can tell it's had at least 2 previous owners

 

look in system settings, under battery, the PSP has a pretty good idea of when it's gonna keel over

 

I actually have a S&L 3003 series that I don't use

The hours stated are number of hours gaming, I imagine if you  just have it playing music it will last much longer

I'm halfway decided to disassemble it just to see what kind of a monstrous battery is in this thing. Even my phone would be way past the 50% mark at this point.

Could it be that I'm running the game (Persona 3 Portable) from the card and using headphones have an impact? It should to some extent, since the optical drive isn't running and the headphones draw way less power than the speaker

Yeah running from the card, headphones, no wifi etc etc etc all make a difference, it might be a less demanding game too etc

well, the e1004 doesn't have WiFi, so yeah, no worries about that. The game itself doesn't seem all that demanding.

WiFi on PSPs is pointless unless you have someone with a PSP to play with, which I don't. And the browser is horrid on those that have WiFi. Not to mention actually typing... ew.

I actually became really good at typing on one

 

Its worth it for updates, and downloading games from the store etc though yeah not 100% needed, I leave it off most of the time

Yeah, I'm kinda cheating since I don't want to carry UMDs around with me in my backpack (as if I needed any more stuff in it ). I'm ripping my UMDs and copying the games on microSD cards that are WAY WAY WAY easier to haul around with me.

 

Found some nifty Memory Stick Duo adapters that can hold two MicroSD cards at the same time. I'd rather have my little box of cards than a stack of UMDs in my backpack

You can just google UMD ripping. Can't talk about it since it kinda falls under the category of pirating (read carefully: I OWN these games and I am ripping them for PERSONAL use and I DO NOT distribute them).

its ok I had already gooled it it definately wasnt possible back then but honestly I have just been downloading ISOs for the games I already own and playing them on an emulator on my Shield, can run them at 2x resolution and they look nice

 

but I do want to dust off the old PSP I love playing on the real stuff

This is my first handheld ever since my GameBoy Color. Been a while and I was kinda afraid I wouldn't be able to get used to the controls and such, but I don't seem to have any issues with it, although some games have truly horrid controls that I can't understand at all >__> Don't see myself playing too many racing games hehe (tried playing NFS Undercover and I'd constantly be second-guessing what each button does D: )

Yeah, I'm using it as an MP3 player/movie player at work, which basically bypasses all the internal rules (I could've used my phone for that, but it tends to get kinda hot after a while and I don't want to have too much junk on it)

Plus, the games on it alone are worth the money I paid for it (about $40 for the PSP, a 4Gb MicroSD, the MSPD adapter, charger, a pretty rigid carrying case and 4 games: Persona 3 Portable, Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth, NFS Undercover and God of War: Chains of Olympus)

 

 

Only actual problem I'm having with it right now is the fact that it's so... plain. I should probably take it apart and paint it someday

The PSP was great because they cracked that thing wide open. I had loads of emulators on mine, along with all the legit psp games I bought. I LOVED it.

 

I was stoked for the Vita, and once they got CFW on the PSP emulator I bought on the very day they figured it out lol
