intel pentuim g3258

COTW

What do you guys think of the G3258?

Worth buying if you cannot afford an I5 4460k?

I've never done Intel before so i don't know what to expect from their cpu's.

So mainly what i'm asking is do you think a G3258 is worth the 94$ CN?

Or should i just keep the FX8350 i currently have and just build a system around it?

I plan on playing DAYZ

I thought the G3258 was a cool CPU to play with for a little bit but I would use like ~70% CPU on just twitch. It's great for some games, and some websurfing, but for me I couldn't wait to get my Xeon.

Desktop: i9 11900k, 32GB DDR4, 4060 Ti 8GB 🙂

The Pentium is more of a placeholder so you can upgrade to a 4690k or 4790k.

theres other options besides the pentium or the i5..the higher end i3's beat the 8350 in most things

Building around the FX 8350 just does not seem fessible at this point. AMD has just sat there in terms of chipsets. Till this day the 990FX is the highest teir chipset for their FX series processors and that came out in 2011.

I don't know about the other games, but LoL loves IPC and frequency, so the 3258 will do very well in that game.

Keep the 8350 until you can save up for an i5, i don't see the upgrade worth it otherwise. The pentium will be worse, an i3...so so, but the 8350 is still decent and why upgrade for almost no gain.

The G3258 is a complete piece of crap in comparison to an FX-8350. You'd have to be nuts to perform such a huge downgrade.
