AM3+ for FX 6300 requires update?

So PC part picker says that the motherbaord (Gigabyte GA 970A ) may require a bios update to be able to run the FX 6300, how easy is this to do, and can it be done with the FX 6300 in the socket (say i don't have a spare CPU)? 

 

My guess is I install the bios update onto a USB stick and when I turn the pc on it will update automatically?

but most board will support the FX x300 and above series

The board should support it out of the box.

Yeah the FX line has been out to long for any 970 chipset not to support it these days unless its a relic laying in a shop for several years!
