Out of the two, 770.

Has the 7970 been considered though? It's nearly neck to neck with the 770, has more vram, and is considerably cheaper.

The 7970 is a really good choice after the driver update. I would seriously think about going with AMD GPUs this year.

I like the color scheme of Noctua fans. Deal with it. Forget about the bad memories of the past.

There's absolutely no reason to get a 680, the 770 is a 680 on steroids (better in every single way) and costs less.

The 770 is basically a beefier version of the 680, but you could get a 7970 which is a great card, cheaper, has more vRAM, and if you can Overclock it, you will get even more performance for a cheaper price.

Thats more expensive than the 770.

We don't know the official prices and regardless the 9870 or 9950 will most likely be cheaper and better performing.

 

Also i'm not saying he should buy any of the next-gen cards just wait and see whats available, how it performs and obviously the pricing :P
