Unstable Wi-Fi, tips and tricks to improve it?

dbcooper

Hi guys, I'm at my mothers house and I dont know why but the wi fi connection is really unstable... It comes and goes all the time.

But something that REALLY bothers me is that some applications just don't work.. For example Spotify and YouTube don't work on my phone (Galaxy S4) and Clash of Clans doesn't connect on my ipad... Everything else works...

Spotify and YouTube work perfectly on my laptop.

Are there any tips and tricks to properly setup a wireless router?

The setup is a D-Link WBR-2310 connected to a black box which I guess is the ISP modem.

Thank you very much!

Sold my build..

I love the "Black Box"  rotfl...  I cant take this serious.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

Download wifi-analyzer and see if it is trying to talk over something else. Maybe manually set the channel?

Thanks!

Huh interesting. Try going into the router settings and changing the channel number if it will let you. If it keeps up, it might be a defective wireless unit. Sounds like the switch and other components are alright. Almost sounds like the antennas are shorting out in quick bursts or something.

Thanks!

Changing the channel doesn't solve any problem :S I dont know what to do.. Maybe is the ISP, I will have to try with another wireless router to be sure

Set the router to default and go from there.

Is your router just laying on the floor in a pile of cables? How many surrounding wifi networks are there? Microwave oven? Baby Monitor? Bluetooth devices?
