Hi.

I got my PC (http://pcpartpicker.com/user/ericlindstrom/saved/JYWTwP) a couple days ago and with that I got MGS:V. So I tried it out and it didn't run as I expected it to. It was really choppy and even when I turned down the graphics settings to low-medium and the res to 720 it looked low-framey. I looked the game up on youtube and some guy said it performed perfectly for him, and he had a 970 as well.

What I was thinking was, if drivers for my components are necessary for them to run as they should. If so, what components need drivers? Please keep in mind. I am a complete newbie!

Thank you for your help! :)

I got a driver from EVGA.com since my GPU is from there... How are Nvidia and EVGA related? Are they the same thing?

Nvidia designs the GPU core (In the GTX 970, it's the GM204 core), sends it to another company called TSMC, which manufactures the GPU core and sends it to companies like EVGA, who make their own PCB (Or use a reference PCB), strap their cooler on it (ACX 2.0 is their flagship cooler) or they strap the reference cooler on it.

Same thing for AMD, except their naming scheme is much more different.

- Make sure that the driver is installed properly. (This is a lot easier if you download NVIDIA Experience as it handles driver updates automatically)

- Double check your RAM and make sure they're in the correct channel (they should be colour coordinated).

^ Also this.

I would get driver straight from nVidia. EVGA and other brands tend to use older driver to make sure that they are compatible with cards. Less support problems on their side. You can also download beta drivers from nVidia. Sometimes with newer games they are better as they include game specific optimization.

Also install all drivers for your mobo. From mobo website or with central download software they provide.
