I'd say keep it off for a more consistent score as I don't remember seeing other people's valley benches with it on

Vsync caps your framerate to the refresh rate of your screen. It can cause stuttering if your framerates drop below the refresh rate. I personally leave it off.

What i'm asking is if most people keep it ON or OFF when benchmarking and uploading their scores.

Then off, because it caps your framerate. Valley benches your score based on fps rates that you get. If you leave Vsync on, it's going to be artificially lower.

That score isn't terribly higher. There's also tons of factors that go into getting a better score, it might even be some luck to an extent.  (That everything works just right.)

Yep it is likely an extreme overclock, so I'd say your fine

Does Valley just use GPU or CPU too?

It's mainly a GPU benchmark, but naturally the CPU is always involved. I doubt it affects your results anywhere near as much as your video card does.

I just ran through Valley once and scored 1999. That's with a slightly overclocked GTX 770 and a Core i5-6600K @ 4.5 GHz. I'd say you're about where you should be considering the 280X is comparable but slightly slower than my 770, and it doesn't look to me like your CPU is hurting you much in that benchmark.

My results were at max details, max AA, fullscreen, 1920x1080 with Vsync off, for the record.

"Valley Benchmark is a new GPU stress-testing tool from the developers of the very popular and highly acclaimed Heaven Benchmark" to quote the valley developers. I meant on the gpu when I said overclocked
