How bad is my GPU?

adamsjus1

Okay so in my current build I am rocking the windforce R9 270x 2gb card...

But for some reason my friends say that it sucks even though I am the one who brought them into the PC master race.... SO relative to what people normally get and stuff. How does my card compare with the average?

Your card would fall into the mid range budget, price to performance card but it's still ok

It's a fairly good mid range card with performance comparable to a GTX 950. Seems like your friends don't know anything about PC hardware.

The R9 270X is a fairly solid card. It should be playing games at 1080p with medium settings just fine, older games could even be close to maxed out or maxed out. It doesn't suck, it's just not high end.

I have a GTX 970 STRIX and two GTX 960 G1 4GBs, so I haven't gone low-mid end in a while. I had two R9 270X Gaming 2Gs for a while though, and they weren't too bad.

run a 3DMark - FireStrike, after you complete the benchmark it shows a pretty graph of how well your PC did and how your score compares to the rest of the world

It's not a "bad" card.. There are definitely better cards, but that's how pc gaming is. As soon as you put a card in it's obsoleted by the newest card.

If it runs games how you like, and gets the job done don't worry about it=)

Higher frame rate over higher resolution.

Still ok,

a little bit slower than a 950 for reference

No you're still gtg for current games (unless you're a freak who needs to have everything maxed up)

I on the other hand have a 5750HD... yeah... a 5750HD! This is the kind of situation where it's valid to say my card sucks

Dunno where you got your info... the 950 is the faster of the 2 but just slightly.

Apples to Apples comparison right here...

The 370 is fine for 1080p gaming btw...

But I max out even Arma 3 and battle field 4 and shadow of mordor and I get great frames in all of those.

I assume their budgets were higher and they got a much better oc. The 270x is a solid card, especially for its price. With aa and shadows turned all the way down you'd probably get 45-55 fps in most modern titles at 1080p which is by no means bad

Well one of my friends is running the R9 270 from MSI and they say their card is horrible too and the other one is running a 970.... And with my res of 1680x1050 I max out everthing but gta 5 with usually 60 fps cap because of the monitor enless its like Arma 3 online with mods then v-sinc takes it down to 30

Your friends are not very smart anyways, or they think they are some sort of elitists in performance terms. The gtx970, which I also have, is a beast of a card but for your resolution, your card is enough.

Don't listen to them. If your GPU runs your games, then its powerful enough

Your friend is probably just a snob r270 will run most games fine at 1080p .

If you want to play The latest triple a titles then you will want a bit mor gpu power but for stuff like league of legends your fine.

My advice just kick your friends ass in games and he'll shut up about your card

I should say as well I'm also running a gtx970 just because I like nvidia features and gforce experience but I play at 1080p with the latest title but it's just not needed so much overkill
