I would recommend upgrading your CPU too if you want to upgrade GPU. To something like i5 4690K or so

For a GPU that high end, you wanna pair it with an i5 or better. The 6300 is ok for more budget oriented builds, but if you're spending that much money on a GPU you may as well upgrade to a newer, faster platform.

fa show, if you still want to do budget build get the i5 4670, but if you wanna go high end get the i7 or higher

it really depends on how much cpu power your game needs. theres defenately not going to be much headroom there,

 

if you have money for a 980Ti you should really look beyond a "rather mehh" AMD cpu.

I wouldn't use a 980Ti on a Fx-8xxx series, it would bottleneck in CPU intensive games. Just go for an i5, they are much better and have a much higher performance per core which is important for gaming.

nope, this is a low/mid-range CPU when it comes to gaming performance and the 980ti is a super high-end graphics solution, they should not be paired together unless you want to render games at very high-resolution and low framerates. (4K)
