My D: drive has been renamed

Hello,

 

I have noticed recently that my D: drive (mechanical hard drive) has changed its name. I called it D: before, though if I go for example into pictures or music it says \\?\Volume{D8A52AE3-628C-11E4-8C69-806E6F6E6963}\Files\Music.

 

When I click on a song for example, there is an error message stating \\?\Volume{D8A52AE3-628C-11E4-8C69-806E6F6E6963}\Files\Music (followed up by the song name) and The specified path does not exist. Check the path and try again. I think this started to happen after I rolled back from windows 10 to win 7.

I read that title as "My Unhappy Drive Has Been Renamed"

Does it stay after a reboot? Safe mode?

Yes it has stayed like that after a reboot. Haven't tried safe mode.

Yeah the title was misleading, but I don't think it had something to do with a name.

I think he meant to do this:

Go into disk management in windows, right click the drive and assign it a new drive letter

If D: is available you can try that, if not, just choose a letter

It states if changing the drive letter, some programs/files might not run. You see, the paths to some places is corrupted I think, or at least not working properly.
