Pick the one country that is the most backwards in NFC adoption, makes sense. This is also where Google FAILED.

Most consumers don't have tap cards yet. They do have mag cards, which are still around for a couple of years. Samsungs MST implementation is far better for people to actually use their cards.

Missed opportunity by Google. Then again, this is classic Android. Even the payment systems are fragmented...makes sense doesn't it?

they could release it in Canada, where tap cards are standard.  I'm pretty sure everyone I know has a tap card.

Lol of coarse google copies apple and android fanboys claim they invented the idea. /s

Whu?  Google Wallet has been on Android for years and allowed contactless payments in the handful of locations that actually supported it (Rite-Aid for one). Yes "Android Pay" is a blatant copy of "Apple Pay", I agree with you there.

Google has now split wallet and pay so that wallet is more like PayPal where you can send money to friends (you are at a restaurant and want to do the decent thing and only run one card for your group of 12) and pay allows you to use NFC to pay for your purchases.
