Should i upgrade my current PC or build a new one?

There is no reason to get a 970 anymore, R9 390 is better

His power supply is too puny to handle the r9 390.

what i would suggest is knowing what socket and age of your components are... if you have almost new stuff (1-4 years old) it should be a pretty good idea to upgrade and its cheaper to upgrade then to build a new one... go off your choice and budget mate but if it was me i would update the 750 ti to something like a 780ti at least. 8gb is good enough for gaming, however if you do have money left over in the budget then consider going for an upgrade, remember to not only consider the capacity of the ram but the speed aswell.

Ok thanks! So as in faster ram you mean something like a DDR3 right? I think those are the faster ones...

I'd say upgrade it, get yourself a 970.

I'd say get a 960 since it draws less power, is pretty good and you avoid the risk of a CPU bottleneck.

A quad core i5 will handle anything no problem.

There is no reason to get a 970 anymore, R9 390 is better

But reason nr. 1: It is an AMD GPU, therefore you have no lovely GeForce Experience.

And reason nr. 2: It draws massive amounts of power...

Here is my current set up:

GPU : Gtx 750 ti

CPU : i5 quad core (i don't know exactly what type it is)

Motherboard : Lenovo motherboard

PSU : 500w

Memory : 1TB HDD

Ram : 4GB (x2)

OS : Windows 10

Cost : $800 (Pre-build)

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I have NEVER build a pc in my life nor have i come close to doing so. My current pc cost me $800 but its not even close to playing 1080p 60 fps on ultra on pretty much any game. I was wondering whether i should just sell this pc and save up for a new one or keep this one and make upgrades to it. Do any of you have any suggestions? I would really appreciate it!

If you live in the US, go buy this right now while it's still on sale:

Well idk I play insanely CPU intensive games like Arma 3 so mabye you're right....

But we don't know the clock speeds....

And reason nr. 2: It draws massive amounts of power...

1- Some people can change graphic settings on their own

2-If you consider extra 32W on load over the 970 MASSIVE, you don't use a vaccum cleaner nor air conditioners..

I'm guessing 3.4, probably a i5 4460.

R9 290 100-120$ cheaper back then (and still is)

Also... DEFINITIVELY! Get an SSD. SSD's are like *enter favourite thing in the world* on a warm summer evening with a beautifuly sunset. <3 (I'm living in Germany right now so I dont get to see that pretty often.... :( )

Not at launch though and it still wasn't as fast.

It has a 750ti, I have seen HP lenovo desktops before they generally chose the i5 4460 or i5 4430.

Heck even if it wasn't the i5 4460, a quad core is more than enough to feed a 970 or r9 390. I don't think there is a even much slower i5 not capable of handling such graphic cards (sans mobile ones).
