is "popcorn time" safe?

Is it safe? For the most part, yes (from a virus/malware standpoint). Should you use it? No, it is still illegal. 

 

EDIT: Also, torrenting isn't illegal, just to clarify. It's the downloading/sharing of pirated content that is illegal. A lot of people seem to be using torrenting as a synonym for pirating.

That's exactly what it is, torrents in a more user-friendly fashion and focused on movies/TV shows.

Can we stop using torrents as a synonym for pirated content? Torrents are perfectly legal, it is the content which can be illegal.

No it's not safe. It uses public torrent trackers, and is being specifically targeted by copyright holders. Of all the ways to "pirate" I'd wager that Popcorn time is currently the most likely way to get caught.

I would use regular torrenting because afaik if you don't turn off your computer it is constantly uploading the file to other users using popcorn time. Even then i wouldn't trust it deletes the file once you restart your computer.
