I'm a university student with no prior work experience, but consider myself pretty competent around technology.

Question 1: What types of entry level jobs would you recommend I apply for? (tech related)

Question 2: Do you have a job/career in tech? If so, what?

From talking to my friends, jobs are evil to find and get. Try and grab something in a supermarket while you look for something tech related if you need funds. That's all I can offer :P

Feel free to message me if you want to chat!

Try and send applications to local retailers that specializes in tech.

I work as a server and network technician, but I don't have a valid education in the field.

I have a relevant question. What sorts of things should one study in College / University? I am a bit confused when it comes to what to study.

As for jobs, while I currently do not have one, a great thing to do is make a resume and advertisement flyer for computer and networking support and take them around to local businesses, schools, churches, etc and offer on call work. That's what i've been doing for the past few years as I study in school, to help pay tuition.

Whatever you like :P

exactly if you do something because someone said its a good course or it'll get you a lot of money in the future then you'll be doing it for the wrong reasons and probably won't enjoy it, just do whatever interests you and you'll find a way to make a living out of it if you're passionate enough

I don't know if you live in a big country like USA, UK, Canada or something like that. I live in SEA and here you can't really find tech guy very often and give me bigger chance to get a tech related job.

As for you, try to find like online job, graphic designer, web designer, work at retailer and other simple job like that as for you can't really got into your work because you're still a student. I don't know how easy to get that in your place though.

I'm currently doing my BBA (marketing) but I'd like to minor in something tech related in the future.

Im going to apply at a bunch of local retailers and see of I can find something interesting to gain experience.

Because your not studying, nor have a "tech" related qualification, it may be slightly more difficult. I'm 16 and get "hired" to help people out all the time. I live in a small farming town in the middle of the country, so not many are very savvy when it comes to tech.

If he knows anything about Tech he is probably over qualified to work at the retailer in my area.

Very true, a job at Bestbuy or Futureshop seems quite dull, selling consumer electronics requires little knowledge of technology. I am still willing to work there to gain exp tho.

Offering to build PCs for a small fee to people around the campus would be fun!

There doesn't seem to be a need for gaming computers at my campus. Gamers usually just sit in one of the several computer labs with their friends to play. The majority of people at uni tend to use only word processors for reports lol.

You can build standard PCs too cheaply!
