what gpu and cpu is needed for 8k gaming?

saiftech

DSR is not the same as native 8K.

If you wanted to run space invaders at 8K, you could do so with a very week GPU, but it doesn't mean that that GPU is what's needed to run 8K.

We're (well, me, at least) are going under the assumption he means what do you need to run AAA games at 8K with Ultra type settings. It's not a matter of research, it's a matter of interpretation of his question.

8K DSR is the same as running the game on a 8K display you troll.

You have the same monitor as me, the Acer XB280HK go and try it out yourself

Are you capable of replying without trying to insult people? Every time I see you, you're calling someone an idiot, troll, or generally being rude.

I actually just went and researched DSR vs native, and yes, I was wrong on that. My mistake. However, the rest of the post still stands.

It's because you always respond within 10 seconds without doing research that's why you have OVER 9000 posts  :P

8K DSR on a 4K monitor or Native 8K on a 8K monitor is the same workload for the GPU. There are so games out there that just don't start or crash when playing with DSR resolutions, but if you set your desktop resolution to 8K they will work.

Anyways, a curved OLED 21:9 5120x2160 144hz would be my dream.

Which performance drop if you can play some games at 60FPS?

Most people play (some) games in 1080P while they could easily play them in 4K. Like CS:GO on a 1080P 60hz screen.

I'd want to play all games at 60fps. But that's just me.

It all depends on what games you are playing, I'm running vanilla Skyrim from 2011 at 8K 60FPS without a problem but Mafia 2 from 2010 runs at 15-20FPS, while Witcher 3 runs at 12FPS:

which is why i mentioned the NCIX video where they play GTA V @ 12K

you just try playing 8K DSR GTA V with all settings on high/ultra. see what FPS you get.

Wow that's some serious circlejerk dude. I can play Witcher 3 fine at 30FPS on my 144hz display but I can't play Battlefield 4 or CS:GO at 60FPS. GTA V or simmilar games are kinda of hybrid, ~45FPS minimum

No because YouTube 4K 60FPS and 8K is optimized very very bad.

Read the comments of this 8K video even people with 5960X can't play it back:

But I only have one 980Ti and a shitty CPU, not 5820K and 4X Titan X like in the video. Watch this video this guy plays it at 8K @ Normal settings

Dual Xeons or I7 extreme and 4 Titan X with top teir PSU, all overclocked and enough cooling to freeze hell over.

Dual Xeon's would propably be a bottleneck, get dual 5960X's
