I'm thinking of getting a Thermaltake Poseidon Z or Zx, but I don't know whether to get the blue or brown switches.

I prefer Browns but it's all preference.

I disagree.  Reds are not always the best for gaming and blues are not the best for typing.  One person may be a better typer with reds because they are the best switch for them.  Likewise, someone may be better at gaming with blues or browns because it is the best for them.

I agree, none of the keys are inherently better than others for a given task. For example, I'm better when typing on Cherry MX Reds

Reds are good for nothing IMHO. theyre just mushy and I prefer cheapo membrane keyboards to reds. To each their own

OP, see if you can make your way to a proper computer store that has all the keyboard varieties on display and see what you like.

i completely agree with you. reds are terrible, i hate the way they feel.  personally i use browns.  but Greens are the way to go!!

On my subjective opinion cherry mx brown especially for gaming.

 

Cherry MX Blue has problem when you are repeatedly tapping a key as you would have to fully lift of all the pressure on the key for the next key to be registered (it has higher actuation point).
