Hi there!

I'm shopping for a new keyboard and was planning on getting a Logitech G710+ Mechanical.

However, I was curious if I should spend my money on something else.

These are the things I want in a new Keyboard

-Mechanical, (Not too familiar with the different types, But I would like a semi-quiet mechanical.)

-Backlit, and/or RGB Chroma lighting.

-Full keyboard

-Less than $100. But I can go up to $150.

Thanks for the help! :)

What keyswitch do you want? I have a mechanical keyswitch thread in my sig that should help ya out :)

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Honestly, Any keyswitch that is moderately quiet is what I want. As long as it is quiet, I don't care what is it.

Browns/Clears/Reds/Blacks - huge differences between them. Please look at the quiz in the keyswitch thread as that can greatly help out.

Just took the Quiz. It told me Cherry MX Browns would be the best for me. :)

Logitech G710+ looks like the first thing I would recommend to you.

i generally trust cherry mechanical keys the most

Why? Is it because that's what everyone else says? Cherry has been having some seriously poor qc on their newer batches, because they (apparently) refuse to update their machinery. Gateron switches are a lot smoother, especially before lubing. Honestly, going forwards, Gateron look to be the ones to beat. Unless, that is, you're an alps kind of person.

Are you 12?

Alright! Thanks! :D

Honestly, I would recommend a pok3r, if you're okay with a smaller board. Back lighting is overrated, and pbt keycaps make a pretty noticeable difference to the typing experience. (you could get a poker 2 for the backlight, but I don't think it come with pbt caps) the Logitech board also comes with rubber o rings on the underside of the caps, and it makes for a really mushy feeling. I'm not a fan to say the least... Browns are a great switch, but you could also look into cherry clears (basically the same, but a bigger tactile bump and slightly heavier spring) the heavier spring makes it easier to not bottom out the switch, which is one of the main producers of noise on a keyboard. The pokers are made in clear, and they are one of the few board that come like that stock.

They used to make good stuff... I had the last version of the cherry brown blackwidow ultimates. It was a pretty good keyboard, but kalih has terrible QC (that's probably why razer brags about hand picking each switch). Their mice have all become pretty atrocious. Also, razer synapse is probably the worst piece of software I've had the (mis)pleasure of using.

It is such a shame that Matias doesn't let many other companies make use of their ALPS switches. They're a dream.

A friend of mine has an apple extended II with original creams. It's really something else. I gotta say, I'm also a fan of the locking caps lock.

I use the G710+ and i would totally recommend it. had it for 3 years and still running like a charm, just painted the orange plastic around the G keys a few weeks ago. I also got a free black widdow and really don't like it, I guess because of the blue switches. The only real gripe I have about the G710+ is that its really long and personally I dont need the 10 keys or the G keys but its a good keyboard so i digress.  My friend has the K70 and is happy with it aswell. Im a fan of brown switches so if you can get it in brown I guess that would be a good recommendation for RGB.

Oh boy... Don't even get me started on the blade... A friend of mine got the blade 17 laptop (the first one), against my recommendation. It has been nothing but trouble since. The only good thing I can think of at the moment that razer makes are their Xbox controllers and the blade 14. I don't think any of their other gear is any good, but that my opinion...
