EVGA 550W GS/Antec HCG 520W/EVGA B2/G2 of similar wattage. It would consume about 300W under load.

Minimum 450 W. What I'd recommend: 550 W or higher. Just don't pick junk.

This is a signature.

600W should be fine 700W if you want a bit more headroom

Lol I can guarantee you that wattage readout is wrong xD

Here's a more power hungry system running overclocked as hell with watercooling and all that jazz.  https://youtu.be/LiWThqgFfI4?t=4m9s

I started the video at the wrong point but it gets the point across. I'm willing to be money that you were measuring power draw from the wall. Assuming you have an 80+ Bronze/Gold-ish PSU that would make perfect sense.

Well then again i had Intel XTU stress test running and Furmark on med settings...

I had the meter in an extension cord to the wall with my PSU cable right into that

Ah, there's your problem. On the extension cable you were calculating draw from the wall. In the 80+ efficiency guide in my sig you can figure the math backwards to know how much power you were using. Keep in mind that if your monitor(s) were plugged into the same outlet socket then it's adding those in as well.
