How do i ground myself?

Go to solution Solved by SeanAngelo,

So i plug in the PSU, and then i turn off the button on the back of the computer? and then i touch the PSU?

yes like that

(◑‿◐) i have always build my rigs on my socks... never had a problem with static electricity... (◑‿◐) haha

trust me ive built many rigs,  btw a good case these days is grounded already... u can discharge static electricity by unplugging the psu power cord and holding the powerbutton for around 15-20sec ( usually ul hear a click in most psu's when it is fully drained ), its not really that long but u get the point (◑‿◐)

Touch a metal appliance that is plugged into a ground socket. I usually end up using a toaster or microwave, though I'm always dubious about how necessary it is.

plug in the psu on the wall but dont turn the power supply on itself, touch the power supply and you're grounded. thats what i do.

Ground socket?

In the UK, our plugs come with a built in ground wire. Thus, any electrical appliance is automatically grounded. Don't know if it's the same where you are though.

It is a nice perk...until you start getting damn ground loops in your audio recording. Then it makes me sad...

Alas, it's not always in the PC (in which the problem just never seems to go away no matter how many fixes I attempt). Set up a recording studio for a local community centre, and spent hours trying to isolate all the different points of interference in the amps. Such a pain.

The threat from ESD is greatly exagerated, as long as you don't do stupid things (stroking the cat whilst building etc) you should be fine.  To my mind you want to be on the same electrical level as your case not grounded, if the case is grounded then OK else just touch the case now and then.
