What is an 980 ftw "gs"? What does the gs stand for, and why is it clocked so much lower than the regular 980 ftw?

It's a FTW card that is running stock 980 clocks, not factory overclocked.

There's nothing really special about it. It runs at stock speeds and doesn't come with a backplate, that seems to be it.

Ok... So whats the point of a "ftw" card that runs at reference speeds...?

being cheaper. when it runs stock speeds they don't need to overclock it and check if it holds the clocks.

Gainward “Golden Sample” (GS) and “Golden Sample Goes Like Hell” (GS-GLH) are two signature synonyms for aggressive over-clocked and extreme over-clocked graphics cards in the gaming society.

 

What ever the hell that's supposed to mean... Gainward has older "Golden Sample" models too.

So, can it be manually overclockedbto ftw speeds? Otherwise, isn't it just a 980 reference card with the evga cooler on it...?
