Is Vessel a bad streaming service or is it just me?

To start off with my little mini-rant here is my internet speeds are:

  • 15 Mbps down
  • 1 Mbps up

Yes, I know they aren't good. #Murica

Anyway, I can typically stream 1080P Youtube videos without any buffering/stuttering and sometimes I can even stream 4K Youtube videos without much stuttering. But vessel on the other hand... is well, meh. Some days I can barely stream 1080P at all, and today I couldn't stream anything higher than 480P. And to me, Youtube's videos look better. I've tried all of my browsers on vessel:

  • Chrome: Would lag at anything more than 480P
  • Firefox: Would lag at anything more than 720P
  • IE: Failed to load anything

So is it just me, or does Vessel seem like a much worse streaming option than Youtube?

That is your computer problem: I could watch vessel @ 720P from my iphones 3G on my laptop.

OFF TOPIC: I suggest every poll from now on to have "**CK EA" option instead of "Other"

It works for me, the only reason anyone likes it is because of the early videos, but the platform sucks. You can't reply to people's comments, much less get an email if your comment was replied to, the player sucks (although it's better than the new YouTube one), and that scrolling animation when you scroll down is super annoying to me.

Works fine for me with Chrome on Linux, I watch all of my videos in 720p. I do get a little stuttering and the quality isn't as good as YouTube, but its much better than the initial release(it was completely unusable for me).

Works fine for me on all browsers. I can't check Edge and IE as I am on a Mac, but every other one is fine. 720p or 1080p (Most of the time).

For everyone saying it is my computer that is the problem, (and honestly it may be) then why am able to stream YT videos in 4K with no problems?

You have a 4770k so it is highly unlikely that it's your computer's fault. Vessel servers are just slower than youtube in my experience of them but for me, they load fine however I have 50 down.

Vessel isn't amazing for me either, but it is a new service, google has had years to perfect their playback, Vessel has had, like not that much.

I think its the servers, too. Somedays 1080P works fine, but also there are days like today where it doesn't work at all.

imo, Vessel is alright. The website layout is fucking awful, just bulky, slow, and half-assed.

As far as streaming goes, they seem pretty decent though. Better than Youtube at times tbh
