Probably some Pentium machine with an 750 Ti should do that.

What kind of budget do you have?

(And just FYI, you posted this in Build Logs and not New Builds and Planning)

Stole the build from @Amazingasian who posted it in another thread, but this is pretty much what I though of:

Motherboard: ASRock H97M-ITX/AC Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($72.98 @ Newegg)
Memory: Crucial 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($36.99 @ Newegg)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Video Card  ($97.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Case: Xion XON-310_BK MicroATX Mid Tower Case  ($22.99 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: SeaSonic 300W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply  ($35.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Total: $370.43
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

You could go for an AMD APU build too (something like and A10), but I chose this because being able to  upgrade.
The build is quite cheap, what I would change about it: the HDD to something bigger or an SSD.

Well yeah.. It beats many, if not all, of the games on Xbox One.. 750 Ti plays games pretty comfortably at 1080p.

I would personally change some stuff up like change the CPU to i3 4160, HDD to a 1TB one or a 256GB SSD.. Just go for a full ATX build and get some H97 board or something..

Change the PSU to 430W by EVGA or something..

But now that you can pick up Xbox One's for 350 euros, I felt like the built kind of had to get close to that number

Do consoles still use graphics chips?

No, they use APU's.

That's why people always talk about how they have 8GB GDDR5 and that it is shared graphics and system RAM and stuff..

Well yeah, that's how APU's work. You have system RAM and at the same time that is also your GPU RAM

Wouldnt a "regular" gpu be better?

Maybe, maybe not.

An APU means there is pretty much one component that needs really good active cooling, compared to a CPU and GPU where 2 components need active cooling.

Now most consoles have (if they are not passively cooled) 1 fan for the CPU and 1 fan to get all the air out. A GPU (and it's fan and cooling) just wouldn't fit in how small these PC boxes are probably. And it's more to break in a console.. There are just so many cons.

But also pros... Like possibly better performance.. Not having to share the RAM, etc.

Well the PS4 is not as bad as the PS3 with overheating, but it will certainly come with all these console gamers not cleaning their PS4's..

if you put a device that measures heat behind the PS4, you'll see how hot it gets, its a blower style system design, all the heat just gets blow out of the back, someone did a video but I can't remember who it is, anyways, also the heatsink of it is very beefy, which helps with cooling and all

Pretty much a pentium g3258 and a 260x or 750ti would do the trick. Even that is out performing the Xbone or PS4.

nah, cuz you cannot run all AAA games off the G3258. Athlon x4 860k costs the same as the Pentium G3258. But has 4 cores, so it is allowed to run all games.

This will give you the best overall performance for around XBONE price (which is 499 i think, unless it has dropped a lot)

Gratz on you. Please return to this thread and tell me how it was playing GTA5/Witcher 3/Farcry 4/Metro Last Light with Chrome/firefox + some other program running in the background. Then tell me if you would still reccomend it based upon the FPS you got and how the games behaved.

You are absolutely right! That's why I love browsing the internet and playing games at the same time on my Xbone!

Please consider the context. Yeah, a G3258 wouldn't be the BEST chip. But if you're only spending £53 on a chip and you're expecting to get the best performance with awesome multi-tasking capabilities, then you sort of need to manage your expectations.

Pairing a G3258 with a GTX 970 for AAA titles will cause quite the problem as opposed to pairing that high end GPU with an i5 or i7, but when you're pairing it with a GTX 750 Ti, which is frankly a low end graphics card (a potent one at that). You may get a stutter here and there, but the benefits of a newer, more efficient architecture with an excellent upgrade path MORE than makes up for the fact it's only a dual-core.

Again, like i have mentioned in so many threads.

Upgrade path only matters if you are upgrading really soon.

Due to how prices drops over time, unless you are upgrading within 2-3 months, the G3258 isnt worth it. Wait and get a I3.

If you are upgrading within 6-12 months, get a i3.

If you are not planning to upgrade and or wont upgrade within 6-12 months at least. Then Get a Athlon 860k.

It simply isnt worth buying a G3258. You trade off so much, for nothing. The Athlon 860k costs the same, most of the time. It performs lower in games that only uses one or two cores, and as good or better in games that uses four cores.

This is why i keep saying, and will keep saying.

Athlon X4 860k or I3 4xxx. Below that, you are wasting your money on inferior products.

The G3258, is a toy for overclockers. It is NOT a daily driver CPU.

People do not just run one program at a time. Most of you do like me. Browse the web, leave chrome/FF open with several tabs, listen to spotify or something like that while playing games (cuz, most games except Witcher 3 has so annoying or poor audio it isnt even funny).

If you cannot have 10 Chrome tabs open, the anti virus on and downloading while playing a light game, then your setup isnt for todays standards. It simply wont be good enough.

""But, i never run programs in the background while gaming. I turn them all off""...

Lies. Nobody bothers to do that, unless they know the CPU cannot handle having stuff in the background. And why else would you turn things off? There is no reason to close programs if you got atleast 8GB of system RAM and a decent CPU...

You should demand from your budget PC what you demand from your leet haxor epic gaming rig.

The best performance you can possibly get, INSIDE and OUTSIDE of games.

It is more likely you gonna spend a whole lot of time, NOT gaming. So being unable to do many tasks at once just completely fucks over the whole argument of the G3258.

Ill keep repeating this till people get it though.

The G3258 is NOT a daily driver CPU. It is a overclockers TOY.

Just because it can get good framerates at 4.8GHz does NOT make it a good CPU. By that logic, because the FX 9590 runs at 5GHz, it isnt that slow compared to the normal FX 8350... Wait, So a factory OCd 8350 isnt horrible.

FX is still horrible, with or without 220w TDP.

@Prysin, I agree in that I wouldn't want a G3258 as a daily driver.

I'm also not much of a multi tasker, I do usually close my Chrome tabs when playing a game.

I'll be getting myself a G3258 when I build an mITX build. This is mainly because when I upgrade my main rig, I can chuck my 4690K in the Z97 board of the ITX rig.

I'm not going to lie, I wouldn't want to pair an X4 860K with something like a GTX 970/980 anyway. I've never owned the chip so I cannot comment objectively, but I'd prefer to get an i5 if going for a higher graphics configuration. The benefit of the G3258 is that it sits in the same socket as the higher end i5 and i7 chips, meaning no motherboard change is necessary (if you got a relatively okay Z97 board from the start anyway).
